A short thread. I don't engage enough on here to help launch a robust conversation. I am a child of the 70s and 80s and definitely can speak to this experience. But I think the conversation hasn't really touched on what was meant by calling kids (like me) who talked "proper"

Clearly, I need to go back to school again. Who's gonna pay for me to get (another) degree? 🤣

In all seriousness though, I now recognize that the Black kids I once thought of as bullies weren't too far off the mark. While it's not productive/liberatory to "attack" our own in these ways, I'm better served by not receiving that experience as attack but rather as warning.

I'm going to RT this again because I'm hoping if enough people RT it, it will actually get some journalistic news coverage.

This may be the best, most on point observation/assessment of #MatrixResurrections I've seen thus far.

#MatrixResurrections was either just sorta okay and slightly cleverly meta based on the whole video game sequel setup and an F.U. due to red pill bastardization irl...or it was just plain awful. Either way, I can't get that time back.

Neo-Colonialism/Black Capitalism are ways for continual control of subjugated people in a world wide white supremacist capitalist system. Let's not keep falling for it.

Ruling class Black people do not have the same interests as us. They benefit from the system as a whole and will not do anything to topple it. As a matter of fact, they will stand in our way, prevent us from organizing, and actively oppress us.

Y’all wanna appropriate Native American cultures so bad, you know one thing they’ve been doing since the beginning of time that you can too but won’t? Give a gotdamn about the planet you came from.

HOT TAKE: Casting Zazie Beetz is not inherently colorism. It seems people didn't get the memo that #TheHarderTheyFall is in fact NOT a biopic. Most critiques I've read are based on this false assumption.

Or should I say faulty requirement? That's not what the writer/director was up to. It's a completely fictionalized story that brings together people who never ran together IRL.

He was never trying to portray the actual people and their actual lives. 🤷🏾‍♀️
