What is urban planning??

the first paper we read in planning school was Rittel & Webber’s “Dilemmas in a general theory of planning” which is against the cybernetic management of cities. the program was close to a 100% cybernetic approach otherwise. this has been haunting me lately.
the Rittel and Webber paper isn’t even something i find precious. it’s just that it expects the reader to have an understanding of cybernetics. it feels like pulling this paper out day one was a way to prevent any of us from forming a critique against cybernetic planning
making a short video about Escape From New York and decided that my very first sewing machine project would be recreating Snake’s shirt. it’s so weird. the zippers open at the top, but not the bottom. i had to see it in action.
premiere has taken one of its most fundamental tools (align) and made it so that the adobe AI gets to decide if you need it or not. today it has decided that I am not allowed to align.
finally... a virtuous algorithm
A glitch on Instagram has caused the platform to repeatedly recommend the band's 1999 hit "Higher," regardless of what users are posting.

guy at the bar started an argument about cybernetics with me. doesn’t he know that ray oldenburg expressly forbade this kind of chatter?
just a long form complaint about the “twist” that happens 20 minutes into the movie
The critics savaging Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Digger” are right, and so is the public who stayed home — missing a Tom Cruise movie, no less.

Some- not all- the reviews resemble crimes of passion- or a crucifixion… the murder with an extra dozen blows- the extra zeal in driving the pointed nail.
And those pieces can then, paradoxically be defined by the very adjectives they wield against the film: “arrogant, bombastic, excessive…”
sadistic glee in so many articles about "Digger" taking this tone as if, written by persons who've never made a movie, will never make a movie, or probably even know anyone who has made a movie, or in fact created anything original & risky, are taking their revenge on those who make themselves vulnerable by doing so.
chronological order, the albums i have obsessed over at different times in my life and still think are perfect

ALT my nine albums in chronological order: young americans by david bowie, we are family by sister sledge, wild planet by b52s, remain in light by talking heads, promise by sade, doolittle by pixies, heaven or las vegas by cocteau twins, white blood cells by the white stripes, good news for people who love bad news by modest mouse
no no we are still in the deregulation phase. what comes next, i don’t know. after that? abundance, baby!
