Since 2018, when Russian 🇷🇺 flags were displayed during the Yellow Jackets movement. I was in Paris those days and saw enough of those, plus the faces of the “protesters”.
And yet in 2019, 🇫🇷 was jumping ecstatically in Russia’s bed for an intimate conversation on “trust”.
As a Romanian living in France, what I witnessed this weekend was not a typical French protest. Having called France my home long enough to see my share of street movements, I can tell when a line has been crossed.
Burning cars, trash cans, looting, street blockades, and clashes with police are, unfortunately, routine. What is new is the direct targeting of symbolic civic and cultural institutions. The sheer intensity of violence between demonstrators and the state signals a dangerous shift, yet the reaction online is a collective shrug.
Dismissing this as "standard French riot" is a mistake. It blinds us to how legitimate domestic anger is being actively leveraged by foreign hybrid operations (including russia).
Outside actors are injecting radical anti-military slogans and polarizing anti-immigration rhetoric into the public debate around student marches, weaponizing digital polarization to split society ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
France has rarely felt this divided. This is no longer just local turmoil, and its fallout won't end at the French border.

Propunerea mea pentru funcția de prim-ministru este Luca Niculescu, un om care, ca diplomat, știe să armonizeze poziţii diferite. În ultimii patru ani, domnul Niculescu s-a ocupat de procesul de aderare a țării noastre la OCDE şi, în această calitate, a lucrat cu instituţiile din România. Este, așadar, cineva care cunoaşte statul şi care a făcut o muncă de patru ani în care a dus la elaborarea a 100 de acte normative cu acordul partidelor parlamentare. De altfel, cred că este un moment în care atât economia românească, cât și administrația să facă saltul pe care aderarea la OCDE i-l permite.
Desemnarea lui Luca Niculescu a venit în urma consultărilor de azi. Am ales persoana care are cele mai mari șanse să întrunească o majoritate, iar domnul Niculescu, în urma discuțiilor aprofundate pe care le va avea cu partidele, are libertatea să decidă formula de guvern - politic sau tehnocrat. Importantă este majoritatea din Parlament.
Este necesar ca România să aibă un guvern cât de curând, pentru că sunt instituții care au nevoie de rectificare, este nevoie de un buget pentru anul viitor. Prelungirea incertitudinii va avea efecte pentru viața românilor. Am văzut evoluția din aceste zile a cursului valutar, dobânzile la credite, sunt investiții care așteaptă terminarea acestei etape de incertitudini, investiții care înseamnă locuri de muncă pentru români.
Am garanția că un guvern cu Luca Niculescu va păstra direcția pro-occidentală a României și va respecta țintele financiare și toate angajamentele pe care România și le-a asumat.

Greece has uncovered the school where Aristotle taught a teenage Alexander the Great.
Archaeologists in Greece have uncovered the ancient Royal Gymnasium at Mieza, the site where the philosopher Aristotle tutored a teenage Alexander the Great between 343 and 340 BCE.
Led by archaeologist Angeliki Kottaridi, the excavation team revealed a sprawling, 30-acre ancient school complex with lecture halls, banquet rooms with colorful mosaics, a wrestling school and an athletic stadium. The find also brought up physical remnants of everyday student life, including four bronze writing styluses likely used by Alexander and his elite classmates.
This historic find links literary tradition to physical remains and offers a rare look into the classroom that shaped the ancient world. At Mieza, Aristotle did not merely tutor the future conqueror. He instructed a small group of young Macedonian nobles, including Hephaestion and the future Egyptian pharaoh Ptolemy, in ethics, philosophy and sciences.
By unearthing the physical classrooms of these historical figures, archaeologists have located the site tied to the start of the global Hellenistic era.
