And now you can write stable pipelines against fast-moving buckets and datasets because your pipeline interacts with an immutable, logical view, and not fast-moving files. You can do all of this with the open source quilt3: docs.quiltdata.com/

💯 we already have terabytes of open bio data on open.quiltdata.com/. What else would you like to see? The idea of a "quilt" is to stitch as many data sources as you want into a logical view without copying = infinite integrated datasets.

Replying to @Pedram_Navid
To find the old clothes in the back you need a data pipelines observability stack. It’s like Marie Kondo for your pipelines. Instead of putting all your clothes in a stack, you get a lineage graph and you start pruning.

New version of pipeline on same data can be captured in github.com/OpenLineage/OpenL…. The big picture is let's use the theory of pure functions for reproducibility: run = f(data, code, env). So with three hashes (git, quilt3, docker) you can recreate any run.

I'm starting to think that all we really need for corporate sanity is a common, machine-readable format that allows me to reliably track the datasets used to make decisions AND the decisions used to make datasets #Datocracy ⁦@quiltdata⁩

Happy to help you get started on Quilt. Quilt 3 is just about to roll out and we are onboarding the first new open data partners, e.g. allencell.quiltdata.com/b/qu…. We rethought data versioning and built around S3, which is faster and more scalable than git for large data.
