Humiliating and dangerous: Trump has now finally just made America an ally of the Kremlin and is aiding Putin in his war against an American friend and partner. Shameful betrayal of a US friend, and pathetic submission to a US enemy.

New Marist poll of Texas finds 61% say undocumented immigrants should stay in US if meet certain requirements. Only 35% say they should leave.
A majority of noncollege white men (Trump base) says stay.
Again, Trump opened way for new pro-immigrant consensus. (cc @RonBrownstein)

The other day, Talarico leaned hard into the case for immigration as a positive good for our country in a way you rarely hear from Dems.
He has a real theory of the case: Trump's cruelties have opened space for new moral arguments, a new consensus. 2/

20 days is enough time to end this #BlueWaveIn20Days
Texas hasn’t elected a Democrat statewide since 1994. Trump’s pick is losing to a former schoolteacher. If Trump can’t hold Texas, he can’t hold anything. Repost if you’re ready to watch it flip. #BlueWaveIn20Days

😱😱😱 And just like that, it’s completely VANISHED from the media.
A sitting congressman, Ted Lieu, said on the record the Epstein files are being blocked because they show Trump raped and threatened to kill children.
Lets make this viral again 👇

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

Mamdani said the officers wore nothing identifying them as law enforcement to Oscar Belgal, and that at least one carried a long gun.
"They wore construction vests and masks that concealed their faces. There was no reasonable way to identify them as ICE agents," Mamdani said at a late-night news conference Oct. 8. "School had just gotten out. The street was crowded with families and children."
Mamdani said he spent two hours on the phone at night with Trump and DHS Secretary Mullin negotiating for Belgal’s release. Instead, he said, ICE “put the man in an unmarked vehicle and whisked him away.”
Mamdani, who campaigned on strengthening the city’s sanctuary protections, including getting ICE out of all city facilities and ending any cooperation with it, said he would press Trump to end all ICE enforcement in the city. He “will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities,” he said Thursday night as protests spread after the shooting.

I guess I’m old-fashioned but I think if you accuse someone in Congress of committing perjury based on your own confusion of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Atlantic Hawks, you ought to take a minute and apologize.

I found watching Trump’s UN speech today deeply depressing. It is a matter of national shame and humiliation that he is our president. Every country in the world, friend and foe alike, sees we are governed by a vainglorious fool.

Luis Ochoa is 17. He's also a U.S.
CITIZEN. This week, he was driving with another TEENAGE U.S. CITIZEN to submit paperwork to enlist in the MARINES when he was pulled over AND OUT OF HIS CAR by ICE🤬🤬
Thanktully, someone started recording.
This is the video. It's horrific. The boys are yelled at, BEATEN, and - when they repeatedly tell the agents THEY ARE CITIZENS — they're ignored.
According to Ochoa, one agent told him, "I don't give a damn. Your parents can't help you now."
Both teenagers were detained for approximately eight hours before being released.
They are minors.
They are U.S. citizens.
They were preparing to serve this country - yet their citizenship did not protect them from being beaten, pepper-sprayed, and detained by their own government.
This is what the Nazis did.

I have an update on my gardener who was taken by ICE.
Three big things have happened since then.
1. The neighbors have all come together to help.
We hired a good immigration lawyer for him. We also found someone willing to serve as his financial sponsor. That matters because one of the things the government will consider is whether he’s likely to show up for future hearings. Having someone willing to vouch for him, and having deep ties to his family and community, can help.
2. We’ve raised enough money to post a bond if he’s granted one.
We think he has a strong case for being released from detention while his case proceeds.
He has lived in the United States since he was 16. (He is now 44.) He runs his own business. He has a wife and two young children. He owns his home. And he has many, many people willing to write letters saying that he’s an important part of this community and is not going anywhere.
We’ll have to wait to see if it’s granted. Fingers crossed.
3. His lawyer is asking to postpone his court date, which is currently scheduled for next week.
This is really important. The Trump administration is trying to move people through the immigration system quickly so it can deport them as fast as possible. His lawyer wants time to gather evidence and build the best possible case for letting him stay. Again, fingers crossed.
But this is what really broke my heart.
My gardener was finally able to get a call through to his wife two days ago. This strong, confident, capable man was terrified. He didn’t know what to do.
Then his wife told him what everyone was doing behind the scenes.
He sobbed.
I don't know if we are going to get him home. I wish I could tell you that we will.
But I do know that we are seeing both the best and worst of American in real time.
The worst is a system that can take a man away from his wife and kids and leave him sitting in detention, terrified.
The best is a group of people who heard what happened and immediately asked: What can we do? And then they did it.
I’m betting on that America.
