ALT White Text reads Meet the Orgs Dignity not Detention Coalition, with Queer Detainee Empowerment Project and Critical Resistance Logos on top of a purple graphical background and NYDND logo in bottom left.

ALT White text reads What is Dignity not detention? The Dignity not detention coalition is a group of different immigration organizations throughout the NY & NJ area pushing to pass the Dignity not Detention DND act. This act would essentially cancel any and all contracts between public prisons and ICE. In other words, it would cancel and remove any public detention facilities. Several states throughout the country have successfully passed their own version of the DND act, including NJ. Purple graphical background with a note to slide over to meet a couple of the orgs pushing the act forward. NYDND logo in the bottom left of the slide.

ALT White text reads Meet: Queer Detainee Empowerment Project is an abolitionist organization based in NYC that is working toward the libration of LGBTQIA+< HIV+, and TGNC immigrants by focusing on abolishing any carceral and oppressive systems such as detention centers and prisons. QDEP has been working towards this goal through community organizing and providing member support. QDEP's membership is made up of queer and trans immigrants in the tri-state area, in detention facilities throughout the country, and folks who are at the border. Photo of 11 QDEP members holding beautiful LGBTQIA+ flags in the background with a purple overlay, and NY DND logo in bottom left of slide.

ALT White text that reads Queer detainee empowerment project wants DND to pass because... QDEP is committed to keeping families together and to end the profiting of people's bodies in carceral systems. Not only that, but QDEP wants to liberate queer and trans immigrants from the torturous mistreatment that they are more likely to undergo in detention facilities. For example, detention centers will place queer and trans immigrants in solitary confinement (SC) as a form of "protection", but in reality they are being placed in an isolating space of mistreatment. Text is over a photo from a rally with QDEP members with signs and a NY DND logo in the bottom left slide.

ALT White and gray text on dark-blue brushed background: “#FREE PAUL WHITE. Paul is a Black, bisexual migrant and loving father with mental health issues who has lived in the United States for over 20 years. He entered the country when he was just 18 years old, and has been a Lawful Permanent Resident with a Green Card for the entirety of his adult life. Paul is a cook who dreams of opening a food truck that serves his cultural foods. But now, Paul is facing deportation to his home country, where he fears torture and death because of his sexual orientation.”

ALT Gray text on dark-blue brushed background: “Since August 2020, Paul has been detained at the Caroline Detention Facility in Virginia. Paul has faced anti-Black racism, homophobia, and other forms of violence and abuse while detained by ICE officers in the facility, which have exacerbated his physical and mental health difficulties. As a form of retaliation, Paul has been placed in solitary confinement many times for over 30 days, where he has experienced brutal treatment. The vicious mistreatment and acts of retaliation need to stop! Please join us at our rally to demand ICE to RELEASE PAUL WHITE NOW!”

ALT White and gray text on dark-blue brushed background: “#FREEPAULWHITE RALLY AND PRESS CONFERENCE. Help free PAUL WHITE, a Black bisexual migrant who has been in immigration detention since August 2020! Join us on December 12th, 1 PM.
