Shor's algorithm can break elliptic curve cryptography, the signature scheme securing virtually every major blockchain. The quantum computer that can run it at scale doesn't exist yet, but the addresses are already public, targets. Here's where each major chain stands. 1/

This is revolutionary, guys. A topological quantum computer (TQC) is one of the most promising candidates for quantum computing due to its inherent resistance to errors and scalability advantages. Unlike conventional quantum computers topological qubits encode information in non-local degrees of freedom. This makes them intrinsically protected against small errors caused by environmental noise.

Really impressed with @solana approach to Post Quantum encryption, a great way to secure users without bloating or impacting speed of their Blockchain - smart move. Companies will still need access to secure cryptographic algorithms though - The companies that are offering PQC on Solana - Take our money. @quantdotbond - you seem to be first out of the gate in what is about to be a very very hot market.

The Diffie-Hellman cryptography scheme is one of the bedrocks of secure Public-key exchange, relying on the difficulty of solving discrete logarithms. However, like the RSA, the development of quantum computing and Shor’s algorithm poses a significant threat, as it can efficiently break this system. Researchers are now exploring alternative post-quantum cryptographic protocols to address this vulnerability. The $KNOT Diffie-Hellman cryptography scheme, inspired by the original Diffie-Hellman protocol, incorporates knot theory to enable secure key exchange. Unlike its predecessor, it is designed to be quantum-resistant, addressing vulnerabilities exposed by algorithms like Shor’s. This innovative approach ensures enhanced security in the quantum computing era.

A superconducting quantum computer was assembled from four separate modules American physicists led by Andrew Cleland from the University of Chicago have implemented a quantum computing device based on superconductors using the "modular principle," placing four separate nodes on a flat substrate, the configuration of which can be changed arbitrarily. The scientists achieved an average degree of fidelity of the results of the two-qubit valves in 96% and the cooking quality of the entangled two-qubit state in 98.74%. The new method of creating quantum devices will be useful for efficiently scaling systems of unlimited size. The results of the study are published in Physical Review X. journals.aps.org/prx/abstrac…

2025, the UN Year of Quantum Technologies, marks an important moment for securing Public-key cryptography in the face of emerging quantum threats Quantum computers could soon undermine RSA and ECC, which protect critical systems and sensitive data globally. Public-key cryptography is essential for digital services like financial transactions and secure communications. While the EU is concerned by making an 18-member-state roadmap to transition to post-quantum cryptography (like CRYSTALS-Kyber and $KNOT), the United States seems way behind and faces increasing competition from China and Russia in the race for quantum leadership. The next @realDonaldTrump administration has an opportunity to make the US to catch-up its competitiveness in its first 100 days of government by funding initiatives like The Bloch Tech Hub, the National Quantum Initiative, and by building international collaborations. These steps are vital for ensuring America security and maintaining its edge in a field that will shape global economic and military dynamics. China (with Hefei’s Quantum Avenue) and Russia (QApp, QRate, and Russian Quantum Center) are advancing rapidly in quantum technology. China is currently the global leader in quantum communications, and now stakes for leadership in quantum technologies have never been higher. In an ever increasing global tension, governments worldwide should act to secure digital infrastructures and align on standards (like NIST) to ensure a secure transition to a quantum-safe world. AWS is migrating to post-quantum cryptography. Their strategy is to adopt hybrid post-quantum key exchange methods. Combine classical key exchange algorithms with post-quantum algorithms, providing enhanced security during the transition period. For example, AWS Transfer Family supports post-quantum hybrid key exchange cipher suites that utilize both the classical Diffie-Hellman and CRYSTALS-Kyber, a post-quantum public-key encryption scheme. aws.amazon.com/blogs/securit… #AWS #QuantumComputing #CyberSecurity #PostQuantum #CloudSecurity #Cryptography

The Dutch startup QuantWare has introduced a 64-qubit superconducting quantum processor and a new scalable architecture! The new scalable quantum platform QuantWare VIO potentially allows you to place up to 176 superconducting qubits on a single chip. QuantWare has already started selling the 64-qubit Tenor processor, which replaced the 25-qubit Contralto chip. It has sufficient accuracy of computing operations (99.9% accuracy) and is configurable at the request of the customer. For the full operation of the processor, control electronics and a cryogenic system are also required, which can be purchased from third-party manufacturers. #QuantumComputing #Superconducting #QuantumInnovation #QuantumTechnology #QuantWare #QuantumProcessor #QuantumBreakthrough #QuantumHardware #Cryogenics #TechInnovation
