It is fascinating how conservatives are all for socialism when it's about oil.

Perseverance has set a new off-world record! 🏅 On Oct. 11, the rover's odometer hit 28.10 miles (45.22 kilometers), eclipsing the distance record set by NASA's Opportunity rover. 1/2

So much of Gibson's earlier, cyberpunk work is very optimistic. Affordable cybernetic implants? A global police force that actually cares about preventing AGI? Space stations run by historically racialized people groups?!
Having long been aware of those tech bros who read my work as utopian porn, where they’ve taken that doesn’t exactly surprise me.

The Peripheral starts to get properly dark, what with the Jackpot and the Klept building their utopia over the bones of most of humanity.

"like trying to infiltrate a Costco" This is an awesome image, and a perfect metaphor for the current state of the web 😁

Remember Flash videos? I do! Here are two Flash videos that you can watch in your browser, on any device, in 2026, thanks to the Ruffle player.
The Ruffle player works great! Here's two examples of original, unmodified SWF files running in your browser: qole.org/flash/terriblesecre… qole.org/flash/allyourbase.h…

I still think about the guy who pointed out that "the underlying purpose of Al is to allow wealth to access skill while removing from the skilled the ability to access wealth." Rarely have I seen Al described so succinctly.

Google has removed uBlock Origin from the Chrome Web Store as Chrome finishes its move away from Manifest V2. Google says Manifest V3 is meant to improve security and privacy, but it also limits how content-blocking extensions can work. The original uBlock Origin is not dead, It still works on browsers that support Manifest V2, including Firefox, there is also uBlock Origin Lite for Manifest V3, but it has fewer features.

I'm Philip the Shipwright. Theseus and I have been friends since childhood. He became a sailor, and I became a ship builder. When we were young, he bought an old boat that he insisted on calling the "Ship of Theseus."

If you have the time, please watch this documentary to help you understand that government debt is fine, actually, and why "We don't have the money," is usually a lie in sovereign currency nations.
"Government debt bad" is the story you've been told. Finding the Money shows the national debt is the opposite of what the orthodox story says. Watch free. #MMT #FindingTheMoney mmtaction.com/share/screenin…

Studies like this keep saying that vehicle traffic is making children sick. And yet, I haven't heard of any blockbuster class action lawsuits against vehicle manufacturers. I mean, it worked against tobacco companies... theguardian.com/environment/…
