Ratings should be the foundation of shot success. Badges should enhance what your ratings already allow you to do, not override them. If I have a 99 three, I should noticeably be a better shooter than someone with an 80 three regardless of badges. The 80-rated shooter can still be good if they know their shot, but there should be a clear difference in consistency, green window, difficult-shot ability, contests, etc. Badges should mostly determine how you’re good. Catch-and-shoot, limitless range, contested shots, off-the-dribble shooting, corner shots, and so on. They shouldn’t make the underlying rating almost irrelevant. Otherwise, what’s the point of sacrificing attributes elsewhere to get a 95–99 shooting rating if somebody 10–15 points lower can essentially reach the same effectiveness through badges? I’d probably want something around 70/30 Ratings vs. Badges. Your attributes establish your ceiling and baseline consistency, while badges specialize and enhance that ability. Not the other way around.
