They were good until Luke discover (in my column) the Blazers were entertaining trading him. Ramsay denied it. Same as Ramsay denied another story I broke that Davis was being shopped. Both were traded. Both apologized for doubting my sources…

Great profile. As outstanding as Maurice Lucas was in the NBA with Portland and other teams, my memory of him will always be with the Spirits in 74-75 and how his intimidation and unstoppable rebounding helped lead to a historic upset of the defending champions.

Love reading everything Lucas-related. Wrote volumes about him, f/Marquette 2 death. How he verbally & physically confronted coaches, f/ Al McGuire 2 Hubie. Could put cherry on top of every story here but space limits me to one: Luke absolutely landed punch v Dawkins, f/behind.
