Last night, a bridge in Skopje caught fire. Our sensor network also caught the smoke traveling through the city. skopje.pulse.eco/ #iot #AirPollution

Btw, did we tell you that you can have your @SmartCitizenKit device show on the pulse.eco/ map? 🤔 Stay tuned for this and for more!😉
Do you have a @thethingsntwrk Uno board just sitting around? How about putting it to use and turning it into a pulse.eco #LoRaWAN sensor cube? Check out how you can construct one on your own: pulse.eco/constructTTNUno

Old meets new. After longer exposure, severe air pollution can taint the PM sensor. That’s why, every couple of years, a ‘doctor’ checkup is necessary, and the sensor might need replacement.

This ‘retro’ packed pulse.eco device lasted in the wild for 4 years before its PM sensor gave up, and will now join the network back refreshed, along with two fresh-out-of-the-oven v2 Wi-Fi devices.
pulse.eco is happily hosting all the data that is being sent by these cute little penguins! Check out nis.pulse.eco/ and follow @dusanstojkovic and his github for more.

Having different environmental measurements provides means for informative data correlation. Here's a histogram of the air pollution in Skopje in 2020, color grouped by temperature, stating the obvious: the worst air pollution occurs when it's colder outside.

It also says that in the whole of 2020, there were 77 days where the daily average PM10 air pollution was above the acceptable limit, and 15 of them were relatively warmer.

Although this data set is not an exact base for action, it can point to a possible right direction: weather conditions in the winter like cold, wind, and temperature inversions, along with human factors like household heating options.
