I'm glad this Shelley Duvall account exists. Loved the The Shining of course, but my fave Shelley movie is Guy Maddin's "Twilight of the Ice Nymphs".
Shelley auction was a year ago 🥲 One of the most stressful nights of my life TBH and I spent a fortune

This is one of two sizable portraits I did of my late great father in law. As you might guess, this isn’t a painting but zoomed closely you’ll see the hectic lines of 100% magic markers.

Japanese Bridge by Monet Same bridge. Same painter. More than 20 years apart. 1899 vs. 1922 In 1912, doctors found cataracts in both of Monet’s eyes. Researchers believe they helped push his greens and blues toward reds and oranges. He painted what he saw.

In 1934, we added a gender-neutral pronoun for a single third person. ‘Thon’ was short for “that one.” It didn’t catch on.

I also am like her. I don’t do crisis very well, I’d choose to walk away. Having given cpr a couple of times, we probably all have reservations. And yes! To dopamine.
Replying to @JoyceCarolOates
I am very like your friend, at my very best in crisis but otherwise quite fretful. I believe it is a not uncommon personality type, something to do with dopamine.

(ironically, I once met the legendary Scaramucci & unsurprisingly, the man was nothing much like the brash character he'd been impersonating so ineptly in the first T***p circus; so it seems, the public selves squeezed out like pus on the public screen of T***pDarkAge are not even accurate, mere caricatures of themselves as T***p is himself a caricature of an awkward bloviating faux-demagogue stumbling his way to the exit.)

“The number of bachelor’s degrees awarded by [Stanford] in the humanities and arts has fallen 56% since 2003. This decline, from 324 in 2003-2004 to 143 in 2025-2026, has continued even as the overall number of undergraduate degrees granted has increased.”

Leonardo da Vinci designed it 500 years ago. He never got to hear it. This is the Viola Organista, part piano, part violin, built by Sławomir Zubrzycki. The only one in the world 🎹🎻 Sławomir & Magdalena Malec playing together as we head into the weekend.
