"Crypto-Governance and the Dangers of Faction:
Lessons from the 18th Century for designing a decentralized future"
In retrospect I probably should have called this "Crypto-Governance and Why We Should Learn to Love Faction"

BIG news for 2027 taxes:
The updated Education Freedom Tax Credit guidance allows a full $3,400 tax credit for married couples filing jointly ($1,700 for individuals).
Give $3,400, reduce what you owe the IRS by $3,400. You get to choose where your money goes.
Support financial education for the next generation at Bitcoinscholars.org.
What could the Education Freedom Tax Credit mean for families across America? The numbers are pretty remarkable.
According to research by my colleague Dr. @parthurgraff, more than 42 million married couples could qualify for the full $3,400 federal tax credit by contributing to Scholarship Granting Organizations.
But what really caught my attention is the potential impact on students.
If donor participation reaches 10% by 2030, as Treasury projects, the program could generate enough funding to support:
- 2.5 million scholarships of $7,000 each, or
- 7 million scholarships of $3,500 each.
That same level of participation could increase federal support for K–12 education by 33%.
Having worked with families navigating educational options for years, I know how much access to additional resources can matter.
These projections help illustrate just how significant this program could become for families across the country.

Mamdani is far less ideological than the typical woke. He’s an accomplished actor (literally) who can emote on demand and then return to sobriety once the cameras stop rolling.
Due to his identity, he has so much clout within his party that — like Trump — he can reshape it. He can even meet with Trump, without consequence, something that more insecure blues simply couldn’t do.
Just like Mark Carney is several standard deviations smarter than Justin Trudeau, Mamdani is far smarter than his predecessor’s predecessor De Blasio. Neither Carney nor Mamdani are the naive anarchistic wokes who actually believe the slogans.
Sure, they do both define themselves as “not MAGA”, but MAGA itself contains so many contradictory tendencies that both Carney and Mamdani could embrace a harsh Chinese abundance communism — a synthesis of abundance liberalism, symbolic anti-MAGA “communism”, and MAGA’s own desire for law-and-order — which would legitimize itself by an anti-MAGA blue nationalism, but which would otherwise be devoid of ideological content.
After all, “ICE out” means “reds out.” It’s a kind of blue nationalism that still endorses the idea of borders and deportations; it just says that blues want to deport *reds* from their territory, and implement their own immigration policies instead of having MAGAs implement them. And NYC and Canada do have the port access to run their own economies independently of DC, and have done so before in history.
Anyway, it’s possible that Mamdani one day holds up a hand, cuts off the NGO grift, and makes the crime stop…but only after he’s secured total control of the city, by “taxing the rich” and driving out every last donor who might conceivably oppose him. And, possibly, by securing a new flow of funds to NYC from Xi rather than DC.

But yeah, let’s totally trust open models built by companies staffed, funded, and monitored by the CCP because… muh OSS.

AI CAN HIDE THINGS IN THEIR WEIGHTS NO HUMAN COULD FIND.
I open sourced it for any large trillion dollar AI company to use for free.
I found lockers hidden in major AI models and I show you, the code to detect it in a local scale.
In 1984 Ken Thompson showed that a compiler can hide a backdoor that survives every inspection of the cleaned source.
Last week researchers showed the same idea works inside AI model weights: they encrypted a small neural network behind a Keccak locker so that it runs only on a secret trigger, and fine-tuning, noise, and trigger search all failed to find it.
A test that finds nothing therefore does not prove the capability is absent when someone else controlled the weights.
I mapped Thompson’s three-stage attack onto the new construction and wrote two practical responses: a ten-point checklist for tracking and verifying the models you use, and a prompt that takes any vendor safety claim and tests it against that limit.
I didn’t quit Stanford and get paid a million dollars hire package to find this.
Hire wisdom next time.

Amazing.
These researchers found that there's a spike in Bitcoin activity around the time foreign aid money goes out.
Somewhere between 2 and 6 cents of every dollar of World Bank foreign aid disbursements got siphoned off into crypto wallets:
