Quality of government and trust in systems are about to become very, very important. Governments conjured by merchants of chaos, lately ascendant in the world, are going to be a real problem.

Seeing a lot of people saying Keir Starmer is the worst prime minister in their lifetime and the only reasonable conclusion to make is that they are two years old

It is ironic the way central government holds local government to much higher standards, via legislation, than it holds itself.
Replying to @ScootFoundation
Deeply embarrassing for central govt to be seriously considering this when value-for-money in local govt infrastructure provision is clearly much, much, much higher than within central govt. Unwilling to their own house in order but stoked to tell others to do so.

Govt starts but then abandons debate in Parliament on suspending Te Pāti Māori MPs, until June 5. Tactical genius to protect Budget buildup? Or raw nerves after hearing Chris Hipkins' speech accusing it of tinpot dictatorship stuff by taking out opponents' voices?

This is deranged. Health Minister can’t wait for more people to end up in hospital. Imagine being proud to have that on your conscience.
Promises made – promises kept! Pakuranga Road’s speed limit has been reversed to 60kph!

FACT CHECK: There are no “fraud investigations”, just Musks operatives doing keyword searches through dept databases looking for contracts that sound weird to the 22 year olds doing the searches and labeling them “fraud”.
The REAL reason so many Democrats are upset about entitlements (social security, medical, etc) fraud investigations is that they are using your taxpayer money as handouts to attract and retain ILLEGAL immigrants. Their future voters. That’s what it’s all about. Truth.

Wayne again! Also, Eden Park concerts are a success story so why say they're a symptom of failure? And dogs, buses, and with SailGP also a success, what's the point of AmCup? My first Love this City newsletter for 2025 is online now, @nzherald premium nzherald.co.nz/nz/wayne-agai…

Culture of saying no in relation to Eden Park concerts? They applied for 6, council said yes. They applied for 12, council said yes. He would also know this is the legal process until we can do a unitary plan review. Which starts next year. Which follows a statutory process.
More mining, more concerts: Christopher Luxon takes aim at ‘culture of saying no’. Also details of two announcements meant to begin this economic growth drive. nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/c…

Something tells me this isn’t going to lower egg prices.
There it is. Trump’s Treasury nominee just said “extending” Trump’s tax handouts for billionaires is their TOP priority: “This is the single most important economic issue of the day.”

Strange phenomenon. Cycleways haven’t popped up everywhere. The largest road maintenance increases were under Labour. The biggest cycleway budgets we ever got was from Key/Bridges under National. Walking & cycling under Lab was 4% of the budget now it’s 1%. Including footpaths
Labour neglected vital transport infrastructure - we're focused on connecting New Zealand

Y’all have no idea the political hoops many of us had to jump through to ensure this project went ahead. Despite SO MUCH LOCAL SUPPORT everyone from schools to businesses to organisations and neighbourhood groups. Submissions in favour but still a big fight. Elections matter!
It's happening!⛏️ Work has begun on the improvements to Great North Road, including a protected cycleway. Yesterday at 5am, @BikeAKL joined the @AKLTransport team for a blessing by Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. It was a genuinely touching experience to witness this significant moment.

The Minister of Finance and the Treasury released its Half Year Economic and Fiscal Update today, and with it – its ‘plan’ for the Budget in 2025 in the Budget Policy Statement. The indicators show very clearly that it’s not working for anyone. A long thread (apologies)
