What a bunch of crap. This is not about repairing a dilapidated golf course. It’s about destroying a cherished public course used by tens of thousands of people in the area who can’t afford to join a country club. It’s about defying the law and the courts to cut down hundreds of beautiful trees, including cherry blossoms. All to satisfy the ego of the cult leader at whose feet you worship.

U.S. support from Israeli is entirely a function of oligarchy. A small number of Jewish billionaires who worship psychotic Israeli Jewish supremacy have taken over and distorted our politics. Enough.
A candidate for the U.S. Senate says Israel is not America's friend.
I'm Israeli. I grew up in Israel. My family is Israeli. And I can tell you this: Few nations hold America as close to their hearts as Israelis do. Fact: Israelis admire America. 81% of Israelis view the United States favorably - the highest percentage among 36 countries surveyed by Pew in 2026. Who else in the Middle East does?
No other U.S. ally can have 200 fighter jets in the sky in 3 hours notice. Modest compared with America's military might, certainly. But backed by something more important: a profound commitment to the United States, regardless of who occupies the White House. Security is real. Capabilities are real. And friendship is real too. This candidate understands nothing of it. He is trying to pick up votes through hate.
None of this requires defending Netanyahu. None of it requires endorsing everything Israel has done in recent years.
It requires understanding one fact: Israel America's most enduring ally in the Middle East.
Criticizing an Israeli government is legitimate. Pretending Israel is America's enemy is something else entirely.
Any other notion is just bigotry masquerading as conspiracy theory- or conspiracy theory masquerading as bigotry.

This is a blatant lie. If it was just repair and usual maintenance, that would be fine. The plans as they exist right now call for broad redevelopment and expansion of golf to the entire peninsula.

A good summary of how much Meta is in the tank for Trump. And a reminder that the authoritarian threat comes not just from within the Trump administration but from its oligarchic allies. Oligarchic power is now a clear and present threat to our democracy.

In a classified briefing, a DoD official revealed to Senators how much Iranian attacks on U.S. bases have cost us.
Now, I'm calling for the DoD to make that number public.
Americans deserve to know how much of their money is being burned on Trump's war with Iran.
Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever has delivered a stark warning to the European Union, urging Brussels to abandon its relentless path of confrontation with Russia and face the harsh reality that the war in Ukraine cannot be brought to an end through escalation alone.
De Wever argues that Europe, stripped of full American support, lacks the military and economic strength to secure victory on its own.
With weapons shipments draining resources and energy costs soaring, he insists that diplomacy is no longer an option Europe can afford to ignore , it is an absolute necessity.
While European nations continue to shoulder the mounting costs of the conflict, countries like China are capitalizing on access to cheap Russian resources.
De Wever is calling for a fundamental shift in strategy: strengthen Europe's defences, fortify its borders, but begin the gradual normalization of relations with Moscow before the economic and geopolitical price becomes even more devastating.
His stance puts him alongside Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, countries that have increasingly challenged Europe's hard-line approach and demanded a renewed push for negotiations.
The message is clear: Europe cannot afford to wage a war of attrition indefinitely while diplomacy remains on the sidelines.....

East Potomac Park was established more than a century ago by Congress for the recreational leisure of the people: golfers, hikers, bikers, walkers, yoga classes and you name it. Hundreds of thousands of people in the DMV and visitors from elsewhere enjoy this beautiful landmark. Of course, Trump’s now trying to steal it for another imbecilic vanity project so billionaires and Trump’s royal court have another place to golf. They have already illegally demolished hundreds of trees where they want the new course to go. With Halloween approaching, maybe it’s time for a march of the Loraxes to stop this criminal desecration and destruction of federal property. washingtonpost.com/sports/20…
What most people already understand, even without the economic terminology, is that firms like BlackRock operate less like investors and more like modern feudal landlords.
They buy essential infrastructure, water networks, ports, energy grids, data centres, and other public necessities, often using vast amounts of borrowed money and paying prices that ordinary market participants cannot match.
Once the acquisition is complete, the debt is pushed onto the acquired company itself.
The result is simple: the public pays.
Consumers repay that debt through higher water bills, rising energy prices, increased fees, and declining service quality.
The infrastructure becomes a cash-extraction machine.
Profits flow upward to shareholders and executives, while the financial burden flows downward to ordinary households.
When the model inevitably breaks down, the consequences are socialised. Communities are left with crumbling infrastructure, polluted rivers and failing services.
Thames Water's £14 billion debt mountain and repeated sewage scandals are a stark example of what happens when financial engineering takes precedence over public stewardship.
The executives who loaded the company with debt have already collected their bonuses.
The investors have already taken their returns.
And when the system finally reaches its breaking point, taxpayers are expected to pick up the bill.
Privatise the gains.
Socialise the losses.
That is the business model......

In May, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum posted an East Potomac plan that showed no disruption to the public recreational areas around the golf course. At the time, I was hearing from sources with knowledge of the situation that the administration had no genuine interest in preserving these areas.
The plan released today by President Trump confirms that the administration intends to push the golf course all the way out to the edges of the island. If Burgum had acknowledged this in May, there would have been more local outrage about the proposal. (And there has already been a lot.)
Ultimately, Burgum should have to address whether he knowingly misled the public.

The Trump Administration was clearly lying about the reasons for their mass felling of trees in East Potomac last weekend.
They were lying to conceal from the American people that, at a time when our country is at war and everyone is worried about the economy and high prices, the President simply doesn’t care—he’s focused on building an upscale golf course within walking distance of the White House. And on his fancy ballroom and his memorial arch to himself.
The design he’s pursuing would block off roads and paths used by large numbers of local residents for cycling and walking, no doubt to make the area another exclusive hangout for Trump’s rich and powerful friends.
And once again he’s doing all of that at great expense, on your dime.
Breaking: Trump says he'll close East Potomac golf course Nov 15 and begin his overhaul
"The current Course is old, broken, dilapidated, and of no further use or effect," Trump wrote.
