Dr. Tom Lue @UCSFUrology gave a fantastic lecture on Peyronie’s disease at our @WCMUrology Andrology Seminar last evening. What moved me even more was the wonderful interaction between Tom and Dr. Marc Goldstein. Their witty remarks, jokes, and playful teasing kept everyone smiling, revealing a deep friendship, mutual respect, and appreciation built over many decades. It was a great seminar! Marc was Tom’s Chief Urology Resident at @downstateuro SUNY Downstate Medical Center and one of his early mentees. Over the years, Marc has often spoken of Tom with great admiration, while Tom continues to share amusing, affectionate stories about Marc whenever we met. Today, both are internationally recognized leaders and giants in urology, male infertility, erectile dysfunction, and andrology. Despite their extraordinary accomplishments, their friendship remains genuine, relaxed, and full of humor. Their example shows that great achievements earn professional recognition, while humility, sincerity, and character inspire lifelong respect and friendship. I feel incredibly fortunate to have known and worked with these two remarkable mentors closely. Their guidance, encouragement, trust, and support have been among the greatest blessings of my professional life, and I am deeply grateful to both. Academic achievements matter, but the friendships we build and the people we meet along the way are truly priceless! ❤️🌹👏 @ReproMed_SMRU @SSMR_malefactor @SMSNA_ORG @NYSAUA

We were delighted to host Dr. Anton Galich from Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Kansas, and Dr. Fabian Barcsay from Frankfurt/Offenbach, Germany, for an intensive week of male infertility microsurgical training at @WCMUrology. Both demonstrated outstanding dedication, precision, and technical skills, achieving excellent patency rates in vasovasostomy (VV) and vasoepididymostomy (VE) using animal models. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and passion for surgical excellence were truly impressive. We are confident that the skills they have developed will benefit many infertile couples in Kansas and Germany. What a rewarding week of teaching, coaching, mentoring, and friendship! After nearly 3 decades of teaching and mentoring young surgeons from around the world, I still find tremendous satisfaction in watching dedicated physicians develop and master these demanding microsurgical skills. Congratulations to both on a job exceptionally well done! @ReproMed_SMRU @SSMR_malefactor @NYSAUA @ASRM_org @SMSNA_ORG @Uroweb

After a week of rain on Long Island, the sun finally returned! ☀️🍂 A beautiful 35.5-km morning ride from Manhasset Hills through Port Washington to Sands Point. Cycling trains more than the body—it trains the mind. Stay alert, focus on the road, and let everything else fade away. Sometimes the best way to clear the mind, regain balance, and stay focused is simply to keep moving forward—one pedal stroke at a time. Life is a lot like riding a bicycle: to keep your balance, you have to keep moving. Let the body sweat, the mind focus, and the spirit recharge. 🚴‍♂️☀️🍁

Recently, Michelle J. Li, was named one of @FilmmakerMag Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Film 2026” in America. As her parents, we are naturally very proud and deeply grateful to see her work recognized. Last night, I found myself looking again at several keepsakes that have been hanging on the walls of our home for many years. They all date back to 2015—the year Michelle graduated from high school and was about to begin college. Seeing them together again brought back so many memories. One was the 22nd Annual Cheryl Lynn Davis Memorial Art Award, which Michelle received in recognition of her “Outstanding Art Achievement and Humanitarian Qualities.” She also received two other honors upon graduating from @HerricksHigh in 2015: the Outstanding Achievement in Theatre Technology Award and the Principal’s Award. Looking at these awards more than a decade later, I realize even more clearly that Michelle’s path into film, theater, and costume design was not accidental. The seeds of her passion and dreams had already been planted during her high school years. Even more interesting is something else from that same year. At exactly 8:08 PM on December 26, 2015, Michelle and her high school friends Ashley and Andrew sat at our kitchen counter and wrote what I now call their “30-Year Dream Pact.” They signed it, added their fingerprints, and made a playful but surprisingly serious bet about who would someday be the first to win a national awards such as an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, or Tony Award. Reading this nearly 11-year-old document again last night made me laugh, but it also moved me deeply. At 18, they had no idea where life would take them. Yet they were already bold enough to dream big—and to put those dreams down on paper. Today, looking at those three awards from 2015, this 30-year dream pact, and Michelle’s professional recognition in 2026, I feel as though I am looking at a timeline of her journey over more than a decade. Over these years, we have watched Michelle grow from a high school student who loved drawing, theater, and the arts, to a college student studying theater and costume design, and then into a professional building her career step by step in film, television, and theater in New York. What we see today is not simply recognition, but the result of years of hard work, perseverance, focus, and an enduring commitment to something she genuinely loves. Today’s achievements did not happen by accident. Many dreams begin as a joke among 18-year-olds, a youthful fantasy, or even a handwritten “pact” created around a kitchen counter. But when someone is willing to spend ten, twenty, or even more years pursuing something they truly love, those youthful dreams can gradually move closer to reality. From 2015 to 2045, this is a 30-year promise among three young dreamers—and they are only about one-third of the way through it. The trophies may matter, but something matters even more: looking back years later and realizing that the dream your 18-year-old self once wrote down is still a dream you are passionately pursuing today. We are also deeply grateful to @CarnegieMellon University’s School of Drama @CMUDrama for providing Michelle with an exceptional education, nurturing her creativity, and giving her the strong artistic foundation that has helped shape the artist she is today. Michelle, keep going, stay focused, and above all, keep doing what you truly love. ❤️ filmmaker.substack.com/p/25-…

We truly enjoyed hosting Dr. John Myrga @JohnMyrga who completed his urology residency at @UPMCUrology and additional training in male infertility and mens’s health under Dr. James F. Smith at @UCSFUrology while completing a fellowship in reconstructive urology with @Ben_Breyer @UCSFUrology. John has now returned to the University of Pittsburgh as an attending urologist and Assistant Professor of Urology, specializing in reconstructive urology, male infertility and sexual medicine. John did an outstanding job during this week’s Male Infertility Microsurgical Course at @WCMUrology, demonstrating excellent microsurgical skills and consistently strong technical performance in both VV and VE animal models. John is a talented surgeon whose dedication, precision, and passion are truly inspiring. Working with talented and motivated young urologists like John is one of the greatest joys of academic medicine. Nothing is more rewarding than watching trainees develop the skills and confidence to become future leaders, advance our field, and improve patient care. We are confident that many couples facing male infertility in the Pittsburgh region will benefit greatly from his expertise and dedication. Congratulations, John—keep moving forward! @WeillCornell @NYSAUA @SMSNA_ORG @SSMR_malefactor @ASRM @ReproMed_SMRU
