Notes on a scrap of paper on which Tolkien was trying to figure out the plot of the Lord of the Rings. This is the first occurrence in his notes of the character Aragorn. Previously known as Trotter, who was either a hobbit with wooden shoes, or actually Bilbo in disguise.
