The moral of the story isn't that you have to run to "the center" per se, it's that whatever you do it has to work, whether by policy appeal, shrewd messaging. or sheer force of charisma. If you're running as the winning winner who wins at a certain point that has to ring true.

A stark & eyeopening contrast: here’s a side-by-side look at Riverdale Park on a good day vs. today, when Toronto’s air quality was the worst in the world for hours. “We’ve been talking about climate change as if it’s the future. It’s now.” Full story: toronto.citynews.ca/video/20…

When Mark Penn slaps Harvard's name on this question using zombie Harris poll, there won't be a "don't know" option and the forced choice will be between "she rizzed him up for clout" and "livvy is the victim of woke ideology"

Remarkable looking back at James Comey's explanation for why he didn't recommend charging Hillary Clinton over classified info misuse.
He lays out 4 conditions, at least one of which needs to be met, to prosecute. 3 out of 4 may be operable in Trump's case.

Have you read ADL’s Global 100 report which takes the most extensive poll on antisemitic attitudes across the world? In 2023, we released a focused survey which focused on 10 European countries. Read this thread for more. adl.org/adl-global-100-index…

The undercurrent of the strike is resistance to the new model. The devaluation of media companies and their endless cuts is acceptance of the model. But it isn't the only model, just the one most easily understood by bookkeepers.

NYC data is out on total # of new multi-family residential building permits in the month of May.
Citywide: 6 buildings totaling 539 units
Manhattan: 0 buildings
Yes you read that right. This is a five-alarm crisis.

Not great but not awful. Good thing we won as many elections as we did/we should win more to make it better next time!

The fixation on Susan Rice is one of the enduring storylines on right that no reporting or facts can dislodge. First, she was the hidden hand (Never mind Klain, Anita, Donilon, Steve, who don’t exist on Fox)
Now Rice’s exit is an Obama errand to come for Biden, what ?
Oh... Oh for Joe Biden. Clintons say age is an issue, Susan Rice, Obama's wingperson leaves the WH right before the Biden announcement. Dems are coming for sleepy Joe, he won't be the Dem nominee...

I, personally, have been talking about/in conversations on the dangers of "deep fakes" for ten years. At which point none of this was inevitable.
Releasing this shit into the world is a choice. Made by both regulators and large companies.
A fake Bloomberg account with a Verified Blue Check on Twitter posted an apparently AI-generated picture of an explosion at the Pentagon this morning.
There was no explosion at the Pentagon, but the stock market still dipped.

Gov. @KathyHochul has sat on the sidelines while liberal district attorneys like Alvin Bragg turn New York City into a war zone where innocent people are scared to take the subway and criminals get a free pass.
Governors are supposed to protect their people. She can send a message to criminals by announcing her intent to pardon Daniel Penny. She can remove Alvin Bragg for endangering Manhattan residents.
One thing is clear: doing nothing only continues the crime wave in New York.

This at least gets at the root of the complaint that most of the discourse obscures with appeals to process and norms and some non-existent precedent. Negotiation and leverage is fine, but this is different because Rs are so crazy they might actually do it.
The sole reason why the GOP is able to demand one-way concessions in debt-ceiling negotiations is that it is plausibly willing to sabotage the country. That should be a scandal for the party, yet much of the press treats it as perfectly normal.

What Wikipedia did: we stood strong for our principles and fought to the Supreme Court of Turkey and won. This is what it means to treat freedom of expression as a principle rather than a slogan.
