I was an anaesthesia fellow in Toronto. I had anaesthetised an adolescent girl for an op. Pre-induction it was an anxious, but otherwise normal, day for her. When she woke up, the world had changed.

I was having vaccinations done ready to go away with work when a Medical Assistant came in to the room and said "Someone has flown a plane in to the Twin Towers". I'm sure everyone can remember what they were doing when they heard the news nineteen years ago today.
