It's Evolution Fact Friday! And because it's #BlackHistoryMonth @bhmuk we're highlighting Margaret S. Collins who was not only an evolutionary biologist but a civil rights activist. She studied insects 🪲 & is probably best known for her work on the evolution of desiccation resistance in termites. She was the first African American woman to earn a PhD in Entomology and later became known as the 'Termite Lady'. Termites she collected through her work are now in the Collins Collection at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
