Former Constitutional Judge Manana Kobakhidze, who resigned over the opposition party ban lawsuit, says she will return to legal practice as an independent lawyer.
Previously, the Constitutional Court of Georgia rejected a motion by Judge Kobakhidze to recuse herself from hearing a constitutional complaint concerning the banning of political parties. In an interview to @RTavisupleba, Kobakhidze explained that she filed the motion at the prompting of her “inner conviction and judicial conscience” due to her political past. She was a founding member of the Georgian Dream, and considers this a conflict of interest.
The Constitutional Court of Georgia is scheduled to hold its first hearings regarding the lawsuit filed by the ruling Georgian Dream to ban five opposition parties on October 21-23.
“Georgia’s democracy, European future and sovereignty cannot become a victim of political retribution,” women politicians on the opposition parties ban in Georgia.
“Society must understand that banning opposition political parties and restricting politically active individuals from engaging in political activities will not solve the problems of poverty, unemployment, corruption, and growing emigration that Georgian citizens face.”
The Constitutional Court of Georgia is set to begin hearings regarding the banning of opposition political parties on October 21, 2026.

30 days in detention for a journalist Vakho Sanaia over two Facebook posts and a video.
The GD regime is desperately trying to silence what remains of free speech in Georgia.
Journalists belong in newsrooms, not prison.
Opposition journalist Vakho Sanaia sentenced to 30 days in prison for a Facebook post.
Ivanishvili’s Judge Tornike Kochkiani sentenced Sanaia to 30 days of administrative detention for allegedly insulting Georgian Dream Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili. In July, Sanaia was sentenced to 14 days in prison for another Facebook post mentioning Papuashvili.
The imprisonment is part of the larger Georgian Dream campaign against political satire and freedom of speech. We express solidarity with Vakho Sanaia and all prisoners of conscience!

Georgia. Nowhere on the European continent is there a greater inequality between a parliamentarian's and an ordinary citizen's salary.

The overnight attack targeted electrical distribution facilities and corporate digital infrastructure. VKontakte is Russia’s largest social networking platform. Users across the country reported widespread outages and disruptions.
