◦WE HAVE REBRANDED The Uganda Muslim Youth Development Forum (UMYDF) has rebranded to Prospect.

▪️What occurs when a project concludes, yet the effort to build safer communities must persist? Today, stakeholders from Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo gather for the Peace Beyond Borders End-of-Project Conference to reflect on lessons learned, share policy suggestions, and discuss ways to maintain efforts to prevent and counter violent extremism beyond the project's scope. Over the next two days, the focus will be on a common goal: transforming lessons into concrete actions through enhanced collaboration among community institutions, genuine inclusion of terrorism victims, and cross-border partnerships. Peace cannot be achieved by a single institution or nation alone. We are safer when we work together. #PeaceBeyondBorders is implemented by @prospectini, @PoleInstitute in partnership with @KofiAnnanFdn, with funding from the @EU_Commission

The newly elected leadership of the Victims of Terrorism Association of Uganda (VoTAU) completed an Executive Capacity Building Workshop under the Tumaini (Hope) Project, enhancing their skills in governance, ethical communication, and strategic advocacy. This workshop represents a key step toward consolidating VoTAU as a reputable national platform for victims and survivors of terrorism. It enables them to collectively advocate for their needs, support their recovery and resilience, and actively engage in peacebuilding and P/CVE initiatives in Uganda. VoTAU was founded through the Peace Beyond Borders project, implementation by Prospect Initiative and @PoleInstitute in partnership with the @KofiAnnanFdn, funded by the @EU_Commission. #TumainiProject #PeaceBeyondBorders #VoTAU

Your account, phone and identity can be misused without you fully understanding where the money is going. Protect your information and know the purpose of transactions made through you. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace

An unusually attractive payment combined with demands for secrecy deserves caution. Responsible business means knowing when to pause and question what does not seem right. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace

Speed matters in journalism, but accuracy and responsibility matter too. In moments of uncertainty, responsible reporting can prevent panic and protect communities from harmful misinformation. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace

Peace is built through the choices we make every day, at home, in schools, workplaces, and communities. By choosing dialogue, compassion, equality, and dignity, we all help create safer, more peaceful communities. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace

Faith can be a powerful force for compassion, dignity and peace. Together, we can challenge attempts to misuse religion to promote hatred or violence. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #investinpeace

Not everything we hear should be repeated. Listening carefully and checking the facts can prevent misinformation from creating fear, mistrust and unnecessary tension. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace

True inclusion goes beyond invitation. It means removing the barriers that prevent people from participating, contributing and being heard. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace

Safer communities are also built through simple, practical actions in the spaces we use every day. Keeping market entrances, exits and emergency routes clear helps people move safely and allows quicker response when an emergency occurs. Traders, market leaders and customers all have a role to play in keeping these shared spaces safe. Small everyday actions can make a big difference.

Peace is reinforced when individuals have chances to develop dignified and secure lives. Providing access to livelihoods, skills, and economic opportunities can foster a sense of belonging and hope, while also enhancing community resilience. On this International Day of Peace, let us reflect that investing in people and their opportunities is also a commitment to peaceful communities. #SaferTogether

Peace is reinforced when communities understand how climate pressures impact their livelihoods, resources, and relationships. Through the Peacebuilding and Climate Action Project, we collaborate with communities in Kasese and Kiryandongo to foster locally led responses that enhance climate resilience and harmony. #InternationalDayOfPeace #PeaceDay2026

The narratives we share influence how people perceive their communities. Responsible storytelling involves reporting on violence and conflict without letting these become the sole stories people encounter. It is equally important to highlight stories of dialogue, resilience, cooperation, and communities striving for peace. On this International Day of Peace, let's use communication to promote peace and expand its possibilities.

Religious and cultural leaders are trusted figures in our communities. Their voices can foster dialogue, promote unity, and help communities oppose messages of hatred and violence. On this International Day of Peace, we acknowledge how community leaders can leverage their influence to promote hope, dignity, and peaceful coexistence.

Stay close and maintain open communication. Understanding your child’s friends, interests, online presence, and changing behavior requires regular, honest conversations. Watch for sudden shifts, discuss their online experiences, and listen without jumping to judgments or accusations. Early dialogue and proper guidance can have a meaningful impact. Safer communities start with simple, everyday actions at home.

Peace is everyone’s responsibility. As Kofi Annan reminds us, building peaceful and stable communities requires each of us to play an active role rather than remain bystanders. Through our everyday choices and actions, we can prevent violence, strengthen trust and contribute to safer communities for all. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace #SaferTogether #PeaceBeyondBorders

Before you move it, know it. When handling a package, whether you're transporting, receiving, or delivering, pause to verify what you're carrying, the sender, and the destination. If you notice anything that poses a safety risk, avoid confrontation or investigation. Prioritize safety and report through proper channels. Small responsible actions contribute to community safety. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace #SaferTogether #PeaceBeyonders

Your taxi is essential to your livelihood, and what you carry is important. As a taxi driver, being mindful of your cargo can help safeguard you, your passengers, and the community. If something about a package or request seems suspicious, take a moment to question it. Quick money is never worth risking the unknown. #EverydayActions4SaferCommunities #InvestInPeace #SaferTogether
