Great children. Beautiful grandchildren. Living in #YorkCentre. Perhaps I think too simply but Canada is just not the hellish place so many seem to portray.

Osgoode Hall's Law Union is calling for people to wear the keffiyeh (which is Iraqi) as a sign of "Palestinian identity." After all, what says "Palestinian identity" more than co-opting somebody else's history?

If you have a chance, watch the OLP Leadership debate on YouTube. I would like to get a few opinions, especially from people not dedicated to a specific candidate.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said: “I have never seen killing and destruction like Gaza in all my years as Secretary-General.” According to even the most critical reports, Guterres, 70,000 people were killed in the war in Gaza, a large proportion of them Hamas terrorists. During your years as Secretary-General: more than 600,000 people were massacred or starved to death in Ethiopia. 377,000 died in Yemen — that figure appears in reports issued by your own organization. 150,000 were killed in Sudan and 12 million were displaced. Hundreds of thousands have been buried in Ukraine. You didn’t see it? They died before your eyes. You simply looked the other way, because the Jews couldn’t be blamed.

Has anyone else heard the rumour that @PierrePoilievre will take the leadership of the BC Conservatives, should Eby call a snap election?

The land was not stolen. It was for sale. By 1947, Jews held about 463,000 acres. Most of it bought. 73% of the plots were purchased from absentee landowners living in Cairo, Damascus, and Beirut. John Hope Simpson walked the country in 1930 and wrote the sentence the slogans cannot survive: the Jews paid high prices, and then paid tenants to whom they were under no legal obligation to pay a dime. In 1944 as the Holocaust raged, Jews were paying $1,000 to $1,100 an acre for sand and marsh. For comparison, Iowa black dirt that year was going for $110 an acre. King Abdullah later wrote in his memoirs that the Arabs were as prodigal in selling as they are in weeping. It was all the rage to sell worthless land to Jews for exorbitant prices. The mayors of Gaza and Jerusalem sold land to Jews. Members of the Muslim Supreme Council sold land to Jews. As’ad el-Shukairy, the father of the first PLO chairman, took Jewish money for land. The nationalism came after the check cleared.

It's funny that a few days ago, people were crowing about how Canadians supported the #LPC in the federal by-elections. Now many of the same have a much different opinion of the electorate in the Ontario by-elections. Consider the obvious, that Ontarians still prefer Ford. Ask why and understand the voters better.

I saw this in a thread once, I still don’t have my own opinion on the movie yet (haven’t seen it due to vacation in the homelands) and it’s crazy finding about 5 of these arguments between 3 replies of a twitter thread

Reconstruction has scarcely begun in Gaza, only about 5% of rubble has been cleared. Almost none of the pledged aid to Gaza is yet flowing. The key impediment: donors (including Arab donors) require Hamas disarmament as a precondition for aid - and Hamas won't do it. Humanitarian improvement is held hostage by Hamas, which has put its own dominance ahead of its subject population's human needs. The Palestinian dilemma is that while their political movements are very successful at stoking anti-Israel odium, those same political movement's feel almost zero concern for the people they purport to speak for. Israel has many enemies. The Palestinians have few friends. True friends would push for Hamas to lay down its arms so reconstruction can begin. The strategy of "resistance" has failed again and again since the Arab Revolt of 1936. It's time for a strategy of "Take the deal even if you don't love it because it's better than living in tents waiting for the next war to turn out better for you than the last war did."

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East @UNRWA 's cumulative budget since its creation in 1950 is between $25 to $30 billion USD. The Palestinian refugee population has exploded not reduced. Palestinians' livelihood has not improved. It deteriorated. Palestinians have rejected all offers of statehood. What makes the Canadian government think by throwing more tax payers money at this impossible problem will bring a better and different outcome? #cdnpoli

Ossoff: Last September, the President of Kazakhstan calls Donald Trump and says he wants to grant tungsten mining rights to an American company. And the very next month, Eric and Don Jr. get a stake in the American company pursuing the mining deal. Six days later, six days after Prince Eric and Prince Don get their stake, Kazakhstan announces this company will get, “The largest known undeveloped tungsten resource in the world.” A few more weeks go by, and then the U.S. government, run by their father, sets aside 1.6 billion of your tax dollars to fund and finance their mining project. In Kazakhstan. All this while you pay more for gas, for groceries, for health care, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

So the flotilla activists were rightly and justly held by Israel, though for just half a day, then released and deported. And the world went into complete meltdown. Outrage went to delirious levels. Now the same flotilla activists have been detained and imprisoned in Libya for the past 10 days, and that prison term has been extended significantly. And the reaction from the world? Total silence. Not a peep. Weird huh? 🤔

Remember the European Hospital in Khan Younis last May? Israel struck a targeted site there, and the world lost its mind. Palestinians denied any tunnel existed underneath. The UN and European governments rushed to condemn Israel for attacking a “hospital.” Outrage, headlines, accusations of war crimes… the usual script. Then June came. The IDF took international media into the very same location and showed them the tunnel… a full Hamas command center, right under the emergency room. Weapons, rooms, infrastructure. And yes, that’s where they found and confirmed the body of Mohammed Sinwar, Hamas’s top military commander and brother of Yahya Sinwar. The strike that killed one of the architects of October 7 was surgically precise, and entirely justified. Under the Geneva Conventions of 1949, hospitals and other medical facilities lose their protected status when they are used for military purposes, such as command centers, weapon storage, or troop movements. By deliberately turning the European Hospital into a Hamas base, the terrorists themselves stripped it of any legal protection. Not a single apology from the UN or the European governments that rushed to condemn Israel. Not one admission they were wrong. They simply moved on to the next round of accusations. This is the pattern. Hamas hides its terror infrastructure under civilian sites, uses hospitals as shields, and the international community reliably attacks the defender for responding, only to be proven wrong again and again and again when the evidence emerges. How many times does this have to happen before the world stops falling for it?

20,000 years ago, HALF of all humans born were dead at the age of 30. Fast forward to 1840… and guess what? Half the population born was dead by the age of 35. Twenty thousand years… and we gained five years. That’s it. So no this isn’t about people being “stronger,” “tougher,” or somehow more “natural” back then. This is about SCIENCE. Clean water. Vaccines. Medicine. Sanitation. Public health. That’s what changed everything. Stop romanticizing the past. If you want to thank anything for longer, healthier lives thank science.

Excellent article. Well worth the read.
Read "Introduction to Gazology" by my friend Matti Friedman. He deconstructs how "pro-Palestinian" authors carefully omit Hamas, and its serial horrors, from any of their books. That tells you plenty about the authors, and their books. thefp.com/p/introduction-to-…
