Schoolchildren in Germany protest against conscription
Nationwide protests by schoolchildren against the possible introduction of compulsory military service took place in Germany. According to the organizers, the protests were held in more than 100 cities and drew more than 45,000 participants.
In Berlin and other cities, participants took to the streets with slogans including “Your war — without us,” “Why us, not you,” and “Not a single person, not a single cent for the Bundeswehr.”
The protests were prompted by the introduction of mandatory medical examinations for 18-year-old men and the possibility of reinstating conscription if there are not enough volunteers.

A 49-year-old Hasidic man was mobilized in Ukraine while returning from Uman to Israel
Yonatan Karlinski-Mashek had traveled to Uman for Rosh Hashanah and presented an Israeli passport at the border on his way back. However, during the checks, authorities discovered that he had also retained Ukrainian citizenship. He was then taken off the bus and sent to the Odesa region to undergo the mobilization procedure.
The Jerusalem Post reported the case, while the Israeli Embassy confirmed that he had been detained.
According to media reports, Karlinski-Mashek is currently in the Odesa region and is awaiting assignment as a doctor to a unit in the Kharkiv area. His family tried to secure his release, but without success.
He was given a prayer book and provided with kosher food.
