I heard @m7mdkurd say something powerful on the Bad Hasbara podcast with @DanielBMate and @mattlieb a month or so ago that has really stayed with me ever since and feels quite relevant today.

There’s a conceptual error here. Sovereignty is not a state’s “right to exist”, it is a manifestation of the right of a people to external self determination. Sovereignty rests with the people, not the state or, say, a king. There is no contradiction in Polanski’s views
