For a few years I kept thinking about turning my grandpa’s apartments in Puerto Vallarta into short-term rentals They were making around $3,500 MXN/month each with long-term tenants, and I always wondered if there was a better way to operate them After debating it for long enough, I finally decided to give it a shot I renovated the 3 units and launched them as STRs in December 8 months later: • $395k MXN in gross revenue • $49k MXN/month average • 56 reservations The biggest takeaway so far has been seeing how much value can be created by taking something that was already there, improving it, and learning how to run it remotely Still early, but it’s been a really interesting experiment I’ll probably share more about the numbers, mistakes, and things I’ve learned along the way
