Neutrality is dead in the water with NATO air forces and navies openly defending Ireland. Why? Because rich Ireland refuses to spend money to defend herself as other ' neutrals' did. How can you claim neutrality when we can't protect/ defend/ patrol our own airspace/ seas?

The last 2 weeks have just been really shocking. A minority campaign to stop the Ireland v Israel football match was platformed and pushed by all the major news outlets and the national broadcaster. The campaign failed, the game was played and Ireland won 3-0. The FAI have come under sustained pressure from the exact same outlets and more than held their own. Now the media are literally lying to our faces pretending that somehow the FAI failed in leadership (they didn’t), that they failed the players (they didn’t) and that a campaign of moral shaming boarding on harrassment is somehow all in the interests of the national football team and the fans. These people think they are untouchable, that they can continue on this campaign of total deceit and get away with it. It’s football today. It will be another leftist issue tomorrow. Literally lying to your face and asking you to nod along. Astonishing

Irish sports journalists are posting minute by minute updates on the absurd Dáil committee hearing on the Israel match. Not one of them posted anything about the actual result of the match on Sunday.

❌nobody believes the soundbites anymore Since the Commissions report in 2022, the plan to evolve has failed to produce anything of substance The journey has been littered with persistent delays, poor oversight, endless bureaucracy & false truths 🚩ALL with ZERO accountability
🇮🇪 Catherine Callaghan TD is calling for smarter, more strategic investment in our Defence Forces. Investing in our people, capabilities, innovation and partnerships will ensure Ireland is prepared for the challenges ahead. finegael.ie/defence-investme…

Great to hear. Now, provide the required resources to enable our @defenceforces to do their job. @SimonHarrisTD has plenty at his disposal. All we appear to lack is the political will to remedy our defence crisis.

Next week, at Ireland's request, a Royal Navy warship will provide air defence during a meeting of EU ministers in Wicklow. But, to comply with the Irish Constitution, the ship must remain outside Irish territorial waters irishtimes.com/ireland/2026/…

🇫🇷 and 🇬🇧 warships providing air defence to 🇮🇪 during 🇪🇺 presidency must remain 22km out to sea on foot of legal advice received by the Government. 💡a reminder that our neighbours are providing the security that we refused to invest in ourselves irishtimes.com/ireland/2026/…

Defence and security, one of the priorities for our presidency of the EU! Unfortunately, delivery of improvements regarding our defence capability remains glacial. Realistic, multi annual capital funding should be a priority for government. It's time to fix defence.

Good to see, with a lot more required to improve our defence capability. It's time to fix defence.

" We're the international equivalent of a demilitarised zone ", @BerryCathal speaking at the MacGill Summer School on defence and the triple lock. Given how all 🇪🇺 countries see the need in ramping up defence capability, why is 🇮🇪 government so apathetic regarding defence.

The absence of meaningful government support for the @defenceforces is truly shocking. Very few politicians or government members speak out in support of the Defence Forces or support improvements in the States' ability to defend itself. We deserve better.
