"the Bernie Sanders-Cassie Pritchard school"
Not a bad way to refer to that whole band of clowns, from national to web.
Turbo-Americans constantly trying to present their sellout, establishment-compatible stances as hard-assed and clear-eyed "pragmatism."
Replying to @PippengerHarlo
AI is the biggest change to labor since the Industrial Revolution, so (some) leftists don't want to do the hard work of thinking about how socialism will apply to it. I sincerely hope the Bernie Sanders-Cassie Pritchard school will dominate over sticking fingers in one's ears.

All of the former Republics have views this way, they are all dominated by nationalist parties that felt they were screwed over by the USSR. We can disagree with them, but not project ideas that they are tsarists.

His complaint is that the USSR dealt with territory for transactions, and that it didn't actually allow the Republics any sovereignty. He doesn't say he wants a Russian Empire, nor does he mourn it. Him being a Russian nationalist makes his position quite expected here.

so A*P rejecting it and glorifying that line out of Russia is actually an imperialist infiltration just as much as the premise that the west would be virtuous to colonize Russia to "save the queers"
rather, unite LGBT movement with Russian anti-Imperialism, in and outside

like for instance i think it'd be far far far easier to rebuild a communist-oriented LGBT movement in Russia that breaks significant western propaganda, than for merely tailing the twin forms of queerphobia: integrationists and eliminationists, where segregationists are average

BREAKING: Iran is preparing a triple-urgency bill to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and test a nuclear weapon, with lawmakers now calling for nuclear weapons tests "as soon as possible" because Iran needs nuclear deterrence, per Iranian MP Haji-Deligani.
The bill follows the NPT withdrawal proposal submitted to parliament on August 21 and the IAEA's referral of Iran to the UN Security Council, which Haji-Deligani says proves the agency "cannot be trusted" after it passed Iran's confidential information to hostile forces and after the strikes on Iranian nuclear plants. He adds "we should conduct the necessary tests for a nuclear weapon as soon as possible."
If the 9/11 terrorist attacks happened today, millions of leftists would be celebrating and making memes about “rich white people” jumping from the burning buildings.

Being around the threshold is actually good. We need to change the narrative that being a very high-income country like the USA is an honorable goal. It is not. It’s parasitic, especially when you know the US economic metrics.
China just missed the cutoff to become a high-income country.
Does this mean that China is still a “developing country”?
On the one hand, yes. China is still a country in a process of rapid transformation, in many ways still structurally subordinated in the world economy.
Far more Chinese workers work in supply chains serving Western demand than the reverse. For example, workers in China toil in Apple's supply chains. Workers in the US do not toil in Huawei's supply chains.
On the other hand, no. China is at the technological frontier across a range of industries. There is no other country that displays as much strength and sophistication across so many manufacturing industries.
I truly believe we've never seen this phenomenon before: a country still somewhat subordinated in the global economy, with a GDP per capita far below that of the world's wealthiest countries — in the semi-periphery, so to speak — yet at the technological frontier across so many industries.

I agree w/this🧵—mvmnts should make room for comrades across different capacities despite the “anti woke” left caricaturing these nuanced topics. It just sucks that valid critiques of ableism & fitness culture get subsumed into a Foucauldian “anti-state state” frame, where liberation becomes refusal of normalization while class power, imperialism & what socialist health planning *should* (and has) actually built barely enter the discussion.💆🏾♀️ It’s the exact kind of academic radicalism Socialism conference embeds itself in.
