“Something’s gotta change.” Yes, it does.
I’ve never made a political social media post in my life, and I’m 100% comfortable posting this. It’s not political. I’m posting it because my wife is a teacher. And because we have 2 school-aged kids. And because I’m proud to work with @CoachBrentKey and call him a friend.

Couldn't agree more. Also applies to work relationships with some modifications. Our company's role isn't to make us happy. It's to provide the right processes, practices, & people to help you feel safe, seen, supported, and heard and create an environment for mutual growth.

1. Our partner should make us happy Our partner’s role isn’t to make us happy. Their role is to be a safe, supportive place for mutual evolution. Making your partner responsible for your own happiness is a recipe for resentment.

My 7 yo attends public school in Austin, Texas. Like all elementary schools, they practice “lock down” drills, aka active shooter drills. I grew up with Columbine. It’s still so hard to process that my baby must be taught to hide in a place where she should feel safe.

The message to kids on why we do this: “You make good choices and are kind to others. Unfortunately, not everyone is the same as you. We want to practice so that when something happens, we know what to do to stay safe.” The “why” put in words so kids understand is heartbreaking.

This is not a knock on our school. They do what they have to in today’s world. This is simply a tweet from a sad, frustrated parent that wants to see real change. I am tired of relying on prayers alone that I never receive the life changing phone call all parents fear.

I’m new to OpenAI, but after reading this I’m now: 1) blown away and 2) crying. Such a wonderful response.
I asked OpenAI to write a letter to my son explaining that Santa isn’t real and we make up stories out of love. This is making me slightly emotional 🥹
Saw this in an article about Twitter’s layoffs. Unfortunately, it’s a sad truth at a lot of orgs. My People, people, if you work for a company with this mindset, do yourself a favor and find a place where People is a valued, strategic function with decision power.
When people ask how I work with my spouse...we've learned - the hard way - that boundaries are key to staying sane. @jaybsauceda

Good thing @omairdotcom can be pretty persuasive! Almost one year later, and I’m still happy with the decision to sell to @cartdotcom. 🚀

Common sense gun laws. We need rational human beings to come together on this.
I'm a moderate. I own guns for self defense. I dislike the NRA, as they dont represent my views. I'm for UBCs (obvious), an assault weapons ban (zero reason for any citizen to have one), and 21 year old age req to purchase (no drink, no gun). I bet big % of America supports this.

My heart and soul breaks for these families and the anguish they must be feeling. Our babes are tucked in next to me this evening. It’s a tight squeeze that I’m beyond grateful for tonight. 💔
Sad update… Families tell me they’re going one by one inside getting swabbed for DNA to help investigators

Accurate.
Women be like “I’m definitely at capacity today” and then go start a podcast, laundry and Kardashians on Hulu.
Learning new excel formulas makes me feel like a wizard.

One of my favorite things about vacation time is uninterrupted reading time. Reading “Lifespan” from David Sinclair - a fascinating read that challenges our expectations around average human lifespans. Here are a few of my favorite excerpts that make you think:

I love to find energy and perspective around how to build exceptional cultures and workplaces in unlikely sources. I’m this case; a book about the science and morale argument for how we increase our average human lifespan. Read it if you haven’t!

Also, yes, this is the kind of dense shit I love to read on vacation, in between my audiobook renditions of Harry Potter which @jaybsauceda loves. 😂
