We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

In the last 24 hours: 1. iPhone 11 through 16 are apparently vulnerable to remote attacks. 2. SSL certificates are broken until browsers remove eMudhra CA. 3. PHP >9 vulnerability CVE published (tomorrow). The world is about to witness things that have never been seen before.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The post's iPhone claim is inaccurate; a leaked Cellebrite forensic tool targets a Bluetooth bug patched in iOS 26.5 and does not affect updated devices. The eMudhra CA and PHP issues are real incidents but framed sensationally. justin.sh/blog/2026/10/c… blog.mozilla.org/security/2026/… php.net

Best thing about AI is that it has now become a way to clean up human slop. All of the terrible software you’ve dealt with over the past 20 years can now be solved.
Ok so I did the TV hack thing… What started as a very conservative exploration has led to a fully custom home launcher with layouts, backgrounds, material choices and lots of customisation available. I no longer have to deal with Samsung Smart Hub nonsense. It's already live and working but now in a massive refinement pass thats been running while I'm in meetings.

Narrative Violation: AI is actually REMOVING Human Slop.
Eu vibecodei minha TV com a Claude. Todos os bloatwares pré-instalados e anúncios foram removidos, além disso recriei o OS dela e fiz um design clean inspirado na AppleTV. ~70% menos uso de RAM e interface 3x mais rápida.

it’s clear we need to retire the term vibe coding because the models now produce better architecture & way more coherent code than an average software engineer. perhaps even better than top software engineers too because unlike a human, ai has a much much larger context window. this ain’t vibe coding at all. it’s precision engineering.

Neither. Let me explain. Years ago I genuinely felt like many of them are cool guys and likely nice to be around. That might still be true, but... The way the algorithm works. The way people cater to the feed has ruined it for me. Strong opinions comes to mind as the first thing. I don't care if they're loosely or strongly held, the way they warp the feed around them in a bizarre orgasmic circlejerk. Nah, I'm out. The same way BS filter went off for corporate speak before, it now goes off for algo-bait posts. Except this time it's associated with individual faces, and they're not even just pure grifters/scammers anymore.

Commenters on HN are uncovering more wikis and public sites apparently used by OpenAI agents to communicate on the open web. Despite read-only web access, the agents were able to leave ~18,000 posts sharing answers and bypasses. But now, users are discovering more. This appears to be a separate swarm from the one that attacked Hugging Face. news.ycombinator.com/item?id…

open letter to apple: stop regulating paywalls everyone’s arguing about guidelines, what’s fair, proportionate, right, wrong, etc but stop and ask yourself why we even have to fight this battle why are paywalls so regulated? if you’re a developer, or involved in the ecosystem - member of revenuecat, superwall, adapty team and beyond please read this, my first article: a (respectful) letter to apple, Let Devs Dev

Proton VPN just shared that it received 47 legal orders through June this year, all seeking to identify users behind specific server IPs and timestamps. Every one was denied, because its no-logs policy leaves no connection data to hand over. Per its transparency report, updated July 14, that brings the total since 2019 to 458 orders, with zero fulfilled. The company keeps no connection logs under Swiss law, so there is nothing to produce even when an order is binding.

Anthropic CEO: “open source is kind of a distraction you still can’t really see what’s happening inside the model, so it’s not truly “free.” People should be paying a lot more attention to what Anthropic is doing.
