So, my sister would have been 31 today, which feels crazy for like a hundred different reasons. It’s weird to think of her at that age, and it’s weirder recognizing that she never actually will be.
Mostly, it’s still just weird not having her around.
I hate doing this kind of thing but it’s my birthday, so if you follow me on here and you’ve ever laughed at something I’ve tweeted out, it’d mean a lot to me if you gave $5 or $10 to @preventionpp today. They’re a great org that needs more support.

PPP is pleased to receive our first dollars from opioid settlement funds in a grant provided by @PADrugAlcohol. The 2-year grant will cover 4 critical roles within our harm reduction org to help navigate participants into harm reduction, medical, & behavioral health services.
We are expanding community-based harm reduction services with $1.5 million in funding secured in multistate opioid settlements by @GovernorShapiro during his time as Attorney General.
This Black History Month, we’re featuring some of the Black leaders of harm reduction at PPP! Larry Anderson is Director of Prevention Services:
“Harm reduction has a special place in my heart,” he says. “It hurts me to see other people hurting."

PPP staff are talking about NY's resolutions + disappointment people experience if they have a setback.
Nicky, case manager and person in recovery, wants you to know that it's ok to slip up on the road to recovery. "It's not that you fell, it's in how you pick yourself back up."
As we embark into 2025, you might have set resolutions for the new year. It's wonderful to articulate our intentions & work towards goals! But remember, for most people, change doesn't happen all at once. 🧵
Rather, progress happens in positive, long-term changes reinforced by community support, evidence-backed treatment, and nonjudgmental care. Setbacks are normal, so if you slip up, try not to sink into shame or despair. 🧵
Check out this fantastic interview with @invisiblepeople + PPP's Lead Program Officer for Housing & Harm Reduction Services, Kate Perch!
"People recover when they get to take the lead on defining what that recovery looks like... When they take agency and are given options."
