Drama class was made extra special today by our guest Mike Lynch (also known as Cecil O’Brien)! Thanks for coming in, Mike! @HolySpiritHS
While I’m sure we all love the break from class, Christmas can be the hardest time of year for some of our students. If you are struggling this time of year while you can’t see your favourite guidance counsellor at @HSHGuidance, please call the kids help phone at 1-800-668-6868
Ethics and social justice teachers - my students are interested in watching more documentaries in the classroom. What are some of your must-sees? #nlesdteachers #socialjustice

What an amazing start to spirit week!! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week will bring!
Just another way for people to further marginalize an already vulnerable group of humans (our trans and gender diverse youth). Let’s have educated discussions with our students surrounding this dialogue so we can protect ALL our students from further discrimination
For some time now, the @NLESDCA staff have been fielding questions resulting from social media posts making broad claims about students & individuals who identify as cats &/or animals. These posts claim that #nlschools are placing litter boxes in their buildings. 1/5
Being a new teacher in the replacement limbo is a blessing because I get to meet so many wonderful people, but saying goodbye to my wonderful students at the end of the year and explaining I may not be back is hard! Emails like this remind me why I love my job so much 🫶🏻
The U.S. has has 2032 school shootings since 1970. Even more alarmingly, nearly 1000 of these have occurred since the tragedy at Sandy Hook elementary in 2012.

Are you aware of #ErinsLaw ?
Erin’s Law calls for the education of all children from k-12 on sexual abuse, protection, and prevention.
Erin’s Law has not been adopted in all schools in Canada
Erin Merryn, the women who created Erin’s law, stated that she suffered sexual abuse for nearly a decade before speaking out because her only education on the matter came from her abusers.
She was told to keep it a secret. She was told no one would believe her.

In Science 7, we have just begun our chapter on human impact on the environment. What better way to introduce this chapter than to clean up our very own backyard! @AllJakeman
Mi’kmaq traditional uses for bunchberry include:
- treating kidney ailments
- tea for children to prevent bed-wetting
- treating stomach problems
- leaves used to stop bleeding and promote healing
Mi’kmaq culture, traditions, and knowledge is still strong today despite hundreds of years of assimilation attempts by the Canadian government.
