This means y’all can get off your butts and vote in EVERY election you are eligible to
It's official. More votes were counted in Alberta's referendum than in any other vote in Canadian history, including all federal elections.

Nail in the coffin for Danielle. Zero moral compass
This is so bad faith and dishonest that it causes physical pain in my body.

Smith insisting the law forced her to put this separation q on the ballot. No. The law required govt to consider the proposed question. And Smith lowered the signature threshold to 177k from 600k. The secessionist option garnered 496,890 votes w 94% of polls reporting.

The gerrymandering is coming tomorrow, folks. Be ready, it will be the most aggressive attempt to cheat in Canadian history.
Together we saved Canada! But there is another threat brewing, and again it's coming from within the UCP. Danielle Smith wants to gerrymander our riding maps because she's terrified she will lose. She wants politicians to pick their voters. No way, premier. In Alberta, voters pick their politicians.

In election data circles, this was actually well known (rumoured).
Jeff Rath just made a remarkable allegation (yes, I know) on CTV this morning. He claims Danielle Smith bought the Wexit Party's contact list during her 2022 UCP leadership campaign and used it to recruit separatists who believed she was secretly one of them. #ableg #abpoli

David Herle compares Jason Kenney to Dr. Frankenstein: "He literally created this party, conceived of it, created it, built it, And then it wheeled on him and gravely wounded him. And now storms the countryside marauding around doing damage."

I made an unsettling discovery in my undergraduate class on financial planning last week. While explaining mortgages, I asked my 38 students this question: if you buy a $400,000 house and pay 20% in cash towards the purchase, what will be the amount that you finance? Not a single student could tell me the answer. Despite the fact that they are all juniors and seniors majoring in business. I added more questions: what is 30 percent of 80? 60 percent of 90? They didn’t know. The closest they got was when one student said, in response to my query of “40% of 70”, that “I know it’s 4 times 7 but I don’t remember what that is.” Another student helpfully added, “28.” They explained to me why they couldn’t answer these math questions: they were never taught multiplication tables, percentages or fractions during their K-12 schooling. Instead, they were taught how to use a calculator. Without one, they are not able to do basic arithmetic. I later asked the dean about this, and he lamented that this isn’t a thing just for our university’s students; it’s a thing for their entire generation, nationwide. When I was in K-12, the fierce debate among parents and educators was whether to allow calculators in class. The calculators won. Today, the debate is about AI. And like before, the tech will win. But will that truly be a victory? Rowan University #college #math #loans #CFP #financialplanning

I have always strongly opposed Quebec separatism, or any movement that wants to rip our country apart. But at least they respect democracy, and have repeatedly won democratic mandates to pursue their cause. The opposite is true for Alberta separatists. Quebec separatists have been elected 1015 times to federal and provincial seats (599 for the PQ, 416 for the BQ,) vs 1 time for Alberta separatists (35 years ago.) The PQ has been elected 6 times to form governments, 4 of those with majorities. Alberta separatists have elected 0 governments with a mandate to pursue secession. The PQ has won an average popular vote of 33% since its founding in 1968. Alberta separatists have won an average popular vote of 1% since the founding of the Western Canada Concept party in 1980. There is a clear democratic convention in Quebec that a referendum on secession cannot be held without a Parliamentary mandate obtained in a general election. Alberta is having a referendum on secession despite no MLAs having been elected on a mandate to hold such a divisive and consequential vote. Quebec separatists have built a serious movement that has repeatedly won elections, and been given a democratic mandate to advance their cause (with which I strongly disagree.) After 45 years of failure, Alberta separatists can't get elected dog catcher, so have tried to infiltrate a governing party founded and elected on a commitment to national unity.
Replying to @jkenney
Hey Jason , how come you don’t say all this about Quebec when they vote for seperation? You’re a phoney !!

We’re going to see a lot of polls like this over the next week. Ignore them. If turnout is low enough, the separatists could still push us into a wood chipper. Don’t risk it. 118,000 people have died fighting for Canada. The least we can do is vote for it.

On even numbered days @ABDanielleSmith wants to be Alberta’s mayor - telling municipalities what to do. On odd numbered days she wants to be Alberta’s Prime Minister - telling Ottawa what to do. She should just be Alberta’s Premier, doing the job she’s been elected to do!
With the latest provincial overreach, Danielle Smith is now ordering me how to vote at Calgary City Council. If I refuse, I risk losing my job. I want to work constructively with the province, even when we disagree. But we must be free to listen to residents and make fair decisions.

Also, fwiw, there's nothing wrong with moving to the US. Living in the US or working or buying from US companies. The Wrong part comes in when you actively undermine the interests of your own nation in order serve a foreign power. This distinction matters!

What is fun to watch about politics is the cons and ndp take up the smaller spaces on the extreme ends (less so for PC) and the liberals have a huge pond to move around in the middle as needed. Thats how they can keep winning
If you are still telling people Carney is "the same government" as Trudeau's government, then you are just a spin machine. He is demonstrably different, in almost every way, except party label. You can disagree on policy, but it's totally different policies. #cdnpoli
