Flying above traffic in certain city >>>👀
so apparently people are getting flown out of floods by drones in China now
like literally hanging beneath a giant DJI drone and getting flown to dry ground
it was during the recent floods in Guangxi, more than 400 drone pilots showed up with over 300 aircraft
> most of the drones carried food, water, and medicine into villages that roads and boats couldn’t reach
> then rescuers started using the biggest ones to carry people.
> one of them was DJI’s FC200, a cargo drone built to lift up to 440 pounds
> the drone lowers a cable and harness, the person gets strapped in, and a human pilot flies them out remotely using the live camera feed
> one rescue was absolutely insane
> a man was stranded on a roof in Liulan village with floodwater rising around him.
> the pilot swapped in a full battery, kept a second drone ready as backup, and sent the FC200 over the water.
> the man was secured with roughly four wraps of the harness.
> then the drone lifted him nearly 150 feet, threaded him past power lines and treetops, and flew him almost 3,000 feet across the flooded village.
> he reached dry ground 9 minutes later.
> the battery was down to 23%.
the obvious question for me is...
if a cargo drone can fly someone across a flooded village, how long until a purpose-built passenger version can fly me across a city?
i want drone Uber so badly lol
imagine opening the app, call a drone, buckle in, and fly straight over traffic

I did an ideation session with Claude a couple of months ago. A lot of what it suggested was crap; it was recursive, and I picked holes in it until it gave up. I went to Gemini; it brought up suggestions I hadn't even considered, but it didn't go further as it was limited by training data.
It then occurred to me that AI is good for seeing whether others have had similar thought processes in the past and for understanding the boundaries of previous thinking before pushing further.
AI is excellent for research before creative output. Anyone who thinks it creates new things is either severely limited in their experience or very lazy. The human mind is still more powerful than the best AI. The way we make associations over time and space to create new concepts and ideas is unparalleled.
AI is a powerful helper, no doubt, but we must not give up human agency and creativity to laziness and expedience.
Unfortunately, it:-
- makes the company stable structurally (it's not as easy to replace managers)
- economically better (it costs way less in time and resources to replace junior staff)
And they believe high performers in that level no dey finish
Not to endorse toxicity❌

We recently installed this 8kVA inverter with a 15kWh lithium battery.
This system can easily power ACs, Freezer & Fridge, Water Pump, Complete home lighting & entertainment systems.
Heavy-duty performance designed for total peace of mind.
If you need something like this, send us DM

It is not uncommon to see obnoxious assholes who can't really run anything on their own become wildly successful in "entrepreneurship." People wrongly attribute success to their unconventional character traits and try to copy them, but they fail.
Entrepreneurs or founders like these are typically unemployable because they can't align with others, and that is why they choose to start something. Many of these people end up as failures and finally go back to find suitable employment or keep trying.
The reason most of the successful ones succeed is something I finally figured out in 2013: money can buy the best talent once you can make money from ideas quickly, and structure that talent to become a multiplier by focusing it on the original source of the ideas and the cash flow, then take a step back.
Sounds like a very simple wealth hack, but very few people can sacrifice their ego for wealth. They always want wealth and control. They fear losing money when it is what now defines who they are. They become Kings of their kingdom.
I tell people that I made more money from companies I did not run but helped grow. I could have helped them more, as I had experienced a lot as an entrepreneur and was disconnected from the day-to-day hassle of running the business.
The best ideas come from experiencing the world, and you hardly get more new ideas if you are not free from the hassles of keeping money flowing. The best entrepreneurs are not the best managers. They simply hire the best managers and get out of their way. Kings are not always rich.
In truly successful ventures, there is very little to no Oga/Boss led product development. This contrasts with the conventional wisdom about entrepreneurship and the "founder mode" trope, which suggests the founder comes up with all the great ideas. The truth is that founder-led companies that succeed are the exception and not the rule.
In 2010, I met a Swedish guy in Dubai who founded a billion-dollar company, but he wasn't running it. He had a CEO, but he was simply "Founder and Head of Strategy." I kept meeting more people like him until @noamwass gave us the lecture on Founders' Dilemmas at HBS, which changed my entire understanding of entrepreneurship and why it succeeds. That week was when I stopped being CEO in my mind.
The media's glorification of CEOs is why many still fall into the "Oga/Boss Led" entrepreneurship trap. The builders of a business are as much entrepreneurs as the founder.
Many examples of operators who excel more than the original founders exist today, even in big tech, but the founder-mode trope gains steam because people believe it is largely about risk-taking. It really is not; it is more about strategy and focus.
The best strategy starts with having the best team. A great founder knows this instinctively. Poor founders learn the hard way. AI will not change this.

The conversation around The Four by Funkejenifaakindele got us thinking…
In solar, there’s also a powerful four.
☀️ The panel that captures the energy that keeps your system charged.
⚡ The inverter that turns that stored energy into usable power for your everyday life.
🔋 The battery that keeps it available when the grid goes off.
🔌 The cables that bring the whole system together.
Remove one, and the system doesn’t work the way it should because reliable power is built from the right four working together.
So, if you’re tired of fighting blackouts alone…
Maybe it’s time to get your four.

Thinking big is very different from talking big. Some people think they are talking big but their words only reveal that they are thinking small.
This is the ultimate AI competitor in Africa - cheap labour
Unless we figure out how to leverage it to build scale so it's worth it
The adoption would remain slow
Technology adoption has always been about economics
In Nigeria , you have to be bold, daring and wise.
We called bulldozer and tractor renters/operator to help us clear land for farming - 22 Acres. Cheapest quote was NGN11,000,000.
In 2020, We would have paid since "Mechanised farming must be better and faster". We simply just told ourself the truth and followed what works.
Cheers to NGN2.5M + Breakfast & Lunch doing the lord's work with a wonderful labour that respect the environment and protect herbs
The truth is to the mgt, she was probably very effective in getting things done
And they could care less about her management style
Also, they would rather hear the cost of losing employees in lower levels because thousands of replacements are out there
I hollered at the first one😂😂😭
Wdym red pen? Like kindergarten🤣
Oh my goodness, I chose my toxic workplace over unemployment! Every Sunday evening, I would shed tears, and by Monday, I was back at work! Poverty can truly rob you of your dignity, especially when no one is willing to offer assistance.
Before you dismiss it as not being toxic, let me list some of the things that happened:
- We were required to submit our daily activities on paper, and she would mark them over five with red biro.
- She denied me leave because I hadn’t achieved 75% of my year’s target, which was in June.
- She reversed my bonus payment and instructed my line manager to either drop my grade or resign.
- She told a junior colleague to slap himself because he had failed to count a delivered order.
- She told my line manager to close his eyes and raise his hands.
- She banned us from wearing black socks because she deemed them uncool.
I've learned that success in business is just these three things:
- having a clear and accurate strategy
- having a great team
- don't run out of cash
Caveat: the last two are more important than the first, iykyk

An under-explored point concerning GoLemon's shutdown is they discovered that the market is very tiny and not growing
And the founders decided is not worth their time
Not operations, marketing, or "issues" as we've posed
And I rate it like mad, I mean they're ex-unicorn
