أطلقت مجموعة العمل من أجل فلسطينيي سورية، بالتعاون مع مركز العودة الفلسطيني، مبادرة تهدف إلى رصد وتوثيق حالات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين القادمين من سورية الذين يعتقدون أن رفض طلبات لجوئهم أو إقامتهم الدائمة أو حصولهم على الجنسية البريطانية جاء نتيجة التغييرات الأخيرة في سياسات الهجرة واللجوء.
وتسعى المبادرة إلى دراسة الحالات المتأثرة وتقييم فرص متابعتها عبر جهود المناصرة والتواصل مع الجهات الرسمية والمؤسسات المعنية في بريطانيا.
وحثّت المؤسستان أصحاب الحالات المعنية على تعبئة الاستمارة الإلكترونية المخصصة، وتسجيل بياناتهم بدقة.

يحذّر مركز العودة الفلسطيني من أن تأجيل الانتخابات الفلسطينية يقوّض الشرعية الديمقراطية ويُبقي تمثيل فلسطينيي الشتات معلّقًا.
ويدعو المركز إلى جدول انتخابي واضح يضمن مشاركة فعلية للفلسطينيين في الوطن والشتات في اختيار ممثليهم، مع صون حقوق اللاجئين، وفي مقدّمتها حق العودة.
