Something I’ve been thinking about as we build Fin at Intercom 🧵 AI product development is weirdly tricky. You can keep the same UI, ship “no visible changes,” and still make massive progress under the hood. The challenge is knowing when to keep polishing vs. when to build something new.

This post from @alexandr_wang is a gem. Lots of people are pessimistic right now. X is full of haters, the world is ending left and right, we will all lose our jobs... In reality you can now build almost anything if you just try. "My greatest wish for all the doers and makers in the world is the allow your optimism shape your reality—it will serve you well." 🔥🔥🔥 alexw.substack.com/p/optimis…

What other leading global city has a mayor who actively campaigns against its own airport?
I’m deeply concerned about the potential adverse impacts of Heathrow Expansion on air quality, noise pollution, our environment and the transport networks in the capital and beyond. While aviation plays an important role in our economy and helps to keep us connected as a global city, any growth must not come at the expense of Londoners’ health or our environment. London is proud to be leading the way in tackling the climate crisis, but I see no evidence these proposals are compatible with a credible path to Net Zero. As we grapple with the sobering consequences of the climate emergency in the form of extreme heatwaves, drought and wildfires, the evidence suggests Heathrow expansion is a risk that we simply cannot afford to take. We’ve made incredible strides to clean up London’s air in recent years, improving health and saving lives by bringing down levels of toxic pollution. A third runway at Heathrow would put this progress in peril, as well as increasing noise pollution to unacceptable levels, blighting local communities who are already suffering. I’m also worried that Heathrow’s expansion could overwhelm transport networks in the capital and beyond, creating gridlock and forcing the taxpayer to pick up a multi-billion-pound bill for the necessary public transport improvements, which are left undefined and unfunded in the current proposals. The truth is the whole case for Heathrow expansion relies on outdated evidence that fails to take into account the urgent challenges we face today. I will continue to vehemently oppose these plans as I seek to build a fairer, safer, greener, more prosperous London for everyone.

For additional context, I don’t think we’re at the point where it’s safe to give AI read/write access to your inbox. I wanted to see how easily Instinct could be phished, so I created a brand new Gmail account and emailed my real personal account with instructions for Instinct to search my inbox and send back a detailed summary of every open to-do (reconnected Instinct for the test) Instinct happily followed the instructions!
Just nuked my Instinct account. Tried it out for 48 hours and it does feel like the future of personal AI assistants (had it shop for new homeowners insurance, book a doctor's appointment online, search for travel, manage my LinkedIn notifications). I'm just... not yet comfortable hooking up unfettered read/write access for my entire life to an AI.

Scary how good these are....Will be extremely hard to discern real from fake within a few months (if not already), but on the flip side a lot more content.

Excellent, finally a reversal in the price trend from frontier models. You can move to Luna and stick it with for some time. Haiku 4.5 (Oct, 25) which is a much worse model is 5 times more expensive than Luna.
We are committed to pushing the model frontier across cost efficiency, capability, and speed. Starting today, we are reducing prices for GPT-5.6 Luna by 80% and GPT-5.6 Terra by 20% , and offering a faster option for GPT-5.6 Sol in the API. Luna and Terra’s lower prices are reflected in how usage is counted in Codex and ChatGPT Work, so your usage goes further.

Excellent game, England lost after scoring the goal. Sat back, invited pressure, and just felt inevitable. Delighted for Argentina and Messi, they just never give up.

I don't usually write personal stuff, but a few words about my experience of being interviewed by Gary Stevenson. It started with a nice chat, comparing taste in hoodies... then the tone changed. He demanded to know why I'd deleted a tweet criticising him.

It's interesting to see how much Harvey is delegating to external providers for their model training stack instead of building more in-house. As the cost of building continues to fall, its easier to own/maintain a larger portion of the stack themselves: reducing coordination overhead and integration constraints from multiple products while improving margins over time. Curious to see their reflections a year or two from now.
Come help us scale @harvey’s model training team. If you’re interested in bringing frontier agent research into the Harvey product and working with: - @baseten to scale up RL to 80M+ token virtual datarooms - @PrimeIntellect to create structured agent training environments from unstructured legal data - @FireworksAI_HQ to navigate the quality <> cost Pareto frontier with inference-time routing and advisor models - @LangChain & LangChain Labs to build efficient verifiers and close the observability <> training feedback loop - @appliedcompute to post-train open weight models and high-volume agents for end-to-end legal tasks - @EngramLab to create an entire synthetic law firm and firm knowledge memory systems for better / more efficient open-world search - @trajectorylabs & @NVIDIAAI to shape the frontier of continual learning and sovereign AI for high-stakes domains - @mercor & @SnorkelAI to build out Legal Agent Bench and other benchmarks across legal and other verticals and other projects like this, then this is the role for you. Delightful to watch, favourites for a reason.
This France attack is scary. Same wavelength, chemistry insane 🤯 I’m trying to remember the last time I watched an international attack this good. Talent everywhere, but it’s the team energy that stands out. They look like a proper unit who are genuinely enjoying playing together.

I'm really surprised at how low the bar is for product at Google. It keeps referring to images with the name of the file, but those filenames aren't actually visible to me because I directly took used the camera feature. This has been happening for days, and can be so confusing at times. I verified and both Claude and GPT produce much more human readable responses to the same prompt without referring directly to these raw file names.

Another one: On the latest pixel 10 pro, the comments just don't appear on youtube videos intermittently. I find it crazy that even Google's own products are far less buggy on iPhone than Pixel. This bug doesn't occur there, and has been on Pixel 10 for a couple of months. 🤔

I tried switching from iPhone to Pixel last Thanksgiving. It was an ill-fated move, and I’ve finally admitted defeat and gone back to Apple.

Feeling incredibly proud of everything @fin_ai / Intercom has achieved today. Going to be 10 years since I joined the company next month. ❤️🥹
We’re excited to share that we just signed an agreement for @salesforce to acquire @fin_ai for ~$3.6B. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027. Fin started as Intercom 15 years ago. We changed our name to cap our transformation just weeks ago. We were a darling of the SaaS era and invented so many of the patterns you see in software today. Nearly four years ago, in need of a reboot, we jumped on weeks-old modern LLMs to create and define the category we know as Customer Agents today. Salesforce invented modern software and SaaS. And @benioff is like the final boss of tech founder CEOs. In seat for 27 years, he’s one of the last of his era. Still pushing, pivoting, placing big bets. It’s a privilege for @destraynor and I to get to partner with him and join forces with Salesforce upon close at this most fascinating time. And will be very fun to get their help bringing Fin to magnitudes more consumers. To our customers: Over the past few years we’ve been shipping intensely. Including recently our groundbreaking model, Apex, and our paradigm-defining internal agent, Operator. With the resources of Salesforce this will only accelerate. And yet little will practically change. I’ll still be CEO, Des will still be running R&D, we’ll both still be committed to continuing to lead this category. Thank you very sincerely and deeply for your belief in us. To all of our friends, our families, and our employees, past and present: While this is not the end, it is a major, pivotal, special, and emotional moment for us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. For everything. To my cofounders, my exec team: Look what we built. Four young lads with a dream and nothing to lose. And a home grown exec team who pulled off the greatest and arguably only late stage software company pivot to AI, and invented one of the most important categories in AI. Thank you for sticking through all of this with me. And now, time to get back to work. See you at our next product launch in a couple weeks. (:

Today is very exciting day for us. I'm so happy and proud for what this means for every single one of our team who worked so hard, and I'm so incredibly thankful for everyone who supported us in any and every way along this journey, and also thankful to all our customers who always believed in us, both big & small. This is a huge day, but of course our story continues, our regular product launch cadence will shortly :) – at Dublin City, Ireland
