One niche use case I've found for hermes is to run simple queries through Haiku, and this only because claude code does not allow me to toggle auto mode for the model.
Another thing that claude code has spoiled me with is getting a relevant autocomplete after each conversation. I'm sure there is a way to set this up in hermes too, but I'm still exploring.
Things that I need getting used to -
a. looking at the 'reasoning' dump (maybe a way turn it off?)
b. no padding on the sides of screen (I asked hermes to fix it and it says there is no such option?)
c. the first /model invocation is a bit laggy (this might be my config issue)

Connected custom provider, hermes did all the config management I only had to provide a base url and auth mechanism, smoooth.
Is it just me or has recent updates to claude code made it inclined to spawn subagents for literally any form of (simple) task? @claudeai
