Ok I'm tired of this bullshit*t. But in any case, I'll indulge your sealioning nonsense. Yes, people were "treated" in ancient times with herbs and roots and rituals. They also routinely died at age 30 from diarrhea, a scratched knee, or a tooth infection. The argument that modern medicine is "overrated" because ancient people used "jadi buti" (herbs) relies on a spectacular cocktail of logical fallacies and errors in critical thinking. Saying "people managed back then" completely ignores the astronomical infant death rates and the millions who died in agony from infections that a basic antibiotic cures today in 48 hours or a simple drug prevents complications of in this era. You are looking only at the lucky survivors, not the overflowing ancient graveyards. This is your Survivorship Bias. The assumption that because something is old, it must be wise, effective, or true is common human stupidity. Bloodletting, drilling holes in skulls to release demons, and drinking mercury were also ancient medical traditions. Age is a measure of endurance, not of scientific validity. This is your Appeal to Antiquity Fallacy. The romanticized notion that "natural herbs" are inherently safer than "chemical tablets" is an idiocy that never dies in the minds of alternative medicine sympathizers like yourself. Nature is not your friend; it is actively trying to kill you just like "all natural" Ayurveda is too. When an ancient remedy passes rigorous scientific tests, it stops being "alternative medicine" and simply becomes medicine. But when a traditional treatment fails these tests, a rational, scientific system discards it. A dogmatic business promoting system keeps selling it anyway, pointing to 2,000-year-old texts as "proof." Also there is no modern Ayurveda. Ayurveda is, was, and always will be primitive medeival dmbfckery. Hope this was sensible enough. Please don't waste my time anymore.
A question to @theliverdoc People were treated in ancient times when there were no tablets but "jadi buti" and medicinal herbs etc. Modern Ayurveda is based on that only so how it is non-scientific and inferior...I hope you will give a good sensible point

Courage: The half-submerged tribal women of MP who lay on pyres and stood beneath nooses, just to save their rivers, their forests, and their land. The thousands who marched yesterday in Delhi, asking for accountability. The girl from Bihar who boarded a crowded general-compartment of a train with 20 rupees in her pocket because she thought showing up matters. The journalist who ran, coughed, wiped the tear gas off her eyes, and kept reporting. The young girl, under a rain of batons, asked the police, "Am I not like your child?” The labourer who sat in solidarity, very aware of the day’s wages he is going to lose. The young doctors who dressed wounds while being beaten up themselves. The rickshaw driver who ferried students to the protest for free. The blind man who couldn’t see the crowd but handed water bottles to everyone. The strangers who anonymously sent food and the volunteers who served. The boy from MP, who brought peanuts and an onion in a tiffin box to a protest that met with batons and tear gas. The brave student who after being struck on the shin with a baton, asked for another blow. Those who stood, when standing came at a price. When overcome by fear, courage was the only option. History will remember those who looked at a nailed baton in the eye and did not flinch. Te remind us that our nation was, is and will forever be, of the people.

Growing number of cafes is a stark reminder that the city lacks public spaces.
Soon Ahmedabad might have more cafes than Bangalore :)

What is it? Sadists, Classism, Soul of Malleshwaram? A lot of emotionally loaded words for something that's fundamentally a governance issue. :) The government fails to enforce the law for years. People adapt to that failure, Businesses grow around it. And suddenly, correcting that failure becomes stealing the soul of the city. 😂 That's not how governance works. If it did, then tomorrow someone occupies a park, a lake, a rajakaluve or part of a road for 10+ years, does that become heritage too? Or do we just throw around words like classism every time the government finally acts? 🤔 The government absolutely deserves criticism for not rehabilitating the vendors. I agree. But calling people sadists because they think a footpath should function as a footpath is absurd! You're not defending the poor. You're defending the idea that if the State fails for long enough, that failure should become public policy. 🤦‍♂️🙏 That's a terrible principle to build any city on. It's better late than never.
The soul of Malleshwaram has been stolen. Sadists are celebrating the dismantling of a vibrant and thriving ecosystem. It is ugly classism dressed up as civic virtue and nothing else. The street vendors existed and thrived because they offered value for money and quality that isn't available in the stores. Livelihoods have been wiped out today. And yet again, what will follow is indefinite harrassment, torture and corruption. It has been happening for years. The first two pictures are mine, from one of my visits to Sampige Road. The last two pictures are how Sampige Road looks today (not my pictures).
