Politics is for power. Democratic power derives from representation. Representation emerges from participation. Without participation you are powerless.
Show up. Participate. Represent and be represented.
Power of, by, and for the people.
No Tyrants.
No Masters.
No Kings.

Seder is accusing Neera of having a secret motivation, which is ridiculous. The actual debate is over tactics. Neera believes that if a surrogate is actively toxic &--if Republicans will weaponize this toxicity--Dems should speak out.
Seder apparently believes Dems should just sit back. Somehow I suspect he believes that specifically Democratic women should just sit back.
I clearly agree with Neera. And I believe our position is supported by evidence, including evidence from El-Sayed himself. He's distanced himself from the toxic surrogate in this case &, per news reports, told the toxic surrogate he was hurting his campaign.
You can agree with Neera (and me) or you can agree with Seder. But let's stop playing these games where we project motivations onto people (women).
It's perfectly fine--albeit incorrect, imho--for you to think it's tactically wise to let a toxic person dominate your political orbit. People like me and Neera and many others think this is tactically stupid.
That's it. A tactical disagreement.
Sam Seder presses Neera Tanden on El-Sayed & Hasan Piker
Neera: If I wanted El-Sayed to lose, I would just be silent on CNN when he's getting attacked.
Sam: It's possible you may not understand what you're doing. If after Barack Obama wins the primary I go out there and say I want Barack Obama to win, but let's talk about Reverend Wright...
Neera: No, the analogy in your situation would be it's as if Barack Obama wins the nomination and then Reverend Wright goes around saying really horrifyingly toxic things and me saying, hey—Reverend Wright does not speak for Democrats or Obama or anyone.
Sam: It's like when Trump says, some people would bring up this about that person, but I would never do it. Some people would say Marco Rubio has tiny hands, but I'm not doing that. It sort of has that quality about it.

This is false. The facts are, as we reported: Hasan Piker invited Jonathan Chait on his show. We instead invited Piker to do an interview with Chait and our podcast host. Piker's team accepted, before postponing twice, and then ultimately canceling. It was always clear who would be part of the interview.

Woah woah WOAH. Correct me if I'm wrong. But I was told that the left had an epiphany during this cycle, and they now think that criticizing dem candidates during general election campaigns amounts to wanting the republican to win.
18 days before an election btw.
With 19 days until the midterm elections, Hasan and his community attack @jamestalarico or as they call him "James Talafreako" over his moderate stance on Israel.
ok MUST be a troll bcus there is no way u can do all this unironically w/o being racist against natives lol:
-“stomped your entire people out”
-in reply to a pic showing the cont’d existence of said people
-call cont’d traditions a “circus act”
-not die of cognitive dissonance

this is next level bootlicking imagine willingly becoming a circus act for the guys that stomped your entire people out
ah, one of my favorite genres: a sequence of tweets so perfectly absurd that the tweeter must be trolling, but you can’t *quite* tell if they are really trolling

18 days until the midterms and he’s talking about a streamer from California. It’s like he wants Republicans to win smh.
Hasan goes on a rant about @hutchinson, then proceeds to crash out on @ostonox and his chat at the end.

I don’t think you have a dog in this fight but if you did you would have shot it.
I’ll take @ellalangleymsic over Kacey Musgraves any day.
And if I’m choosin’ Texas, I’ll take Ken Paxton over James Talarico.

Piker continues to hurl abuse, and make noises that *sound* like a denial, without denying any of the facts: xitter.cf/hasanthehun/status/210…
why are you acting this dense? i invited you on to the broadcast first, you refused because it seems you're worried about a live convo where you don't have editorial control over the final product. so you keep quote sniping from the atlantic platform. don't you want to humiliate me in front of my audience with your superior intellect?

I arrived at the conclusion that you agreed to an Atlantic podcast interview with me, then postponed, then cancelled, because that is exactly what happened. What, if anything, are you denying?
not sure how @jonathanchait arrived at this conclusion. i have invited him on my broadcast for a lively conversation. couldn’t make it on the atlantic podcast due to other scheduling issues. but i have publicly communicated that he has an open invite, since his first article

The most important problem with inviting Piker to join the pro-democracy coalition is that, by any reasonable definition of the term, he does not believe in democracy theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

You should be extremely cautious about accepting at face value claims by people who believe lying is an acceptable way to advance their cause theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

As I prepared for the interview by researching his commentary, I realized that Piker is right to complain that the handful of frequently repeated controversial statements fail to accurately represent his worldview.
In fact, it’s much worse than those quotes suggest. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

When we talked about Kyle Kulinski being bad for dems you demanded a poll about net voter effect due to leftist influencers.
Replying to @carrtmannn
Where am I demanding "impossible empirical evidence?" How about some polls asking people the relative importance of Hasan? Is that too much to ask?
Is this a concession that you have no empirical data for your hypothesis, given you state that it's "exceedingly rare" to have it?
