This indie studio just ported Quake for rats to the browser

- Multiplayer with public and private lobbies
- Tons of maps, plus a full map editor
It's called Ratz Instagib. You can play it in your browser right now.

i’m joining the team at @wavedash to lead marketing and growth
it’s been almost 2 decades since i first played club penguin
my gateway drug to PC gaming, and the only thing i’d ever wake up early for before school (breakfast came second)
if you played club penguin before disney shut it down, you know the feeling. an online world you existed in, a place that felt like an extension of you, but in penguin form
it seems silly now, but it was so much more than a browser game. a way to connect with friends, an escape from the real world, a place to be your unapologetic self
it’s also where i discovered modding
sure, i may or may not have given myself 999,999,999 coins through some shady software. but what really happened was i realized the computer in front of me had infinite power
i could rewrite the rules, make my own worlds, meld things together and break down walls
years pass. flash games, browser games, modding the absolute hell out of fallout new vegas, skyrim, garrysmod. whatever i played, i tried to modify to make my own
but i was always building with other people’s tools, because i didn’t have the resources to make my own
in the last 2 years, that changed
i started vibe coding to automate parts of my job. any wall i hit, the AI broke through. then i realized these models could do far more than i imagined, and i started my first ever videogame
almost a year later, fister averages 1,200 DAU, is live on steam and wavedash, and has a small but passionate community
models are now good enough that one person with an idea can actually ship the game they’ve always wanted to play
the barrier to entry has never been lower. gaming, modding, and the open web we all used to love are about to change forever
i believe @wavedash is going to bring a new renaissance like the flash game boom of the early 2000s, and i’m going to help lead us there
if you love gaming, creativity, and freedom, follow along. there are so many stories to tell and i can’t wait to share them
let’s cook
