Police on Friday dramatically re-arrested Peter Kinyanjui alias KaWanjiru, a prominent youth leader and known ally of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, moments after he was released on bond by a Ruiru court.
Kinyanjui, who had earlier been detained in connection with the June 25 torching of the Kiambu Law Courts, was taken into custody again just outside the court premises by officers believed to be attached to the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU).

I am deeply concerned by the reported abduction of Advocate Abshir Ahmedsadak Abdi. Establishing his whereabouts and ensuring his safety must be an immediate priority. His family and colleagues should not have to plead for answers.
I call on the Inspector-General of @NPSOfficial_KE and the @DCI_Kenya to act urgently to locate him, secure his safe return and investigate those responsible. If he is in state custody, the authorities must disclose where he is held and the lawful basis for his detention. Silence is not an acceptable response.
The safety of advocates is not a favour from the State. It is a duty the State must fulfil. We cannot defend access to justice while accepting that those entrusted with advancing it can simply disappear. Bring Abshir home safely.
