remember when anne hathaway recognized one of kelly clarkson’s most iconic songs before kelly clarkson did? yeah, voice of an angel, brain of an advanced toddler.
Kelly Clarkson to Las Culturistas on AI music: “It’s controversial, I don’t care - I love AI. There’s very amazing things with AI that I’m obsessed with it…BUT, when you see AI artists competing on a chart with humans, I have an issue. I think there should be a separate chart. I think it’s welcome to the table, it’s really cool and creative what we’re going to create musically with AI…but I don’t think they should be competing with humans…but there can be an appetite for both.”

there was a mature student who described himself as the next deleuze in my cohort who did this, but also pronounced gramsci: gram-skee.
I’m sorry, but if you pronounce Nietzsche’s name “Nee-tchee,” I don’t think anyone should have to listen to your opinion.

the most damning part about this was it was after he took a whole course on gramsci, where he would have encountered the correct pronunciation for three straight hours every week.

cannot endorse this essay or @jonothingEB's broader scholarly project enough!
I have an new essay in differences! “New Material for the Old Ceremony” is a deconstruction of Lynn Margulis’s Origins of Sex, her downright weird writings on politics, and new materialists who see liberatory potential in microbiology (happy to share the PDF!)

the way i would be so much more chill on the job market if they just standardized requesting letters of reference for long- or short-listed candidates. please save both me and my references the time our email exchanges, their writing, etc.!!

praying the discourse(tm) on this catalyzes a bunch of work on why the contemporary reanimation of race science is bad, but knowing, in my heart, it will just catalyze more race science 😭😭
If you believe in the existence biological racial differences, you are a racist. Hope that clears it up.
