wow the base model understands when it is appropriate to create a 2-simplex of 1-cells as a witness for composition of relations between relations of concepts in theta space ontologies.

netties now supports polarity and types ✨ see the demos 👇 and we're on a new domain: netties.adler.dev
made a playground for interaction nets and ngl it's pretty cool netties-936.netlify.app/

I've published a new, general-purpose terminal specification that gives any program a way to tell the terminal what it's doing: idle, working, waiting, finished, or failed, and why. It is easy to implement on both sides. I've written more about why: mitchellh.com/writing/progra… The problem this solves is generic and applies in compelling ways to all sorts of use cases (e.g. package managers, build tools), but it really rears a hideous head when it comes to AI and the "agentic inbox" problem. I found over 250 different agent orchestrators (with various goals) that all individually implement a heuristic based approach to detecting whether things like Claude Code are working, blocked, done, etc. If you look at @herdrdev's commit history, you can see around 10 compatibility changes to detect Claude Code within just the past 3 months. (This isn't a dig at Herdr! They're doing great work with what they have, and everyone else is doing the same thing). Heuristics are not the way. And over-indexing on agentic use cases isn't the way, because this problem is really interesting for other tools too: Homebrew, Terraform, Cargo, etc. etc. Proprietary protocols and out of band APIs are not the way. They have an O(N) integration problem and require extra work to work over SSH or within local VMs/containers. The program status specification (OSC 7501) solves this in a reliable, deterministic way that is general-purpose and can be easily adopted by the entire industry. speaking of which, get ready for a new blog post from Glaive showing the modern way to do Open Games
> It seems that the mathematical technique of analysis situs (topology) and particularly such concepts developed by it as that of homeomorphism might prove very useful RIP Hayek you would have loved applied category theory

Introducing JEV-27B-VL. We believe it is the world’s first open-weight, near-SOTA multimodal decision model — built with AutoTrust AI’s Blocks of Experts (BoE) recipe. It does not just describe what it sees. It turns visual state into calibrated action probabilities, then selects what to do next. In this demo, it sees Mario’s position, movement, obstacles, and timing — then chooses whether to run, jump, or do both. See → decide → act.

category theorists don't want you to know that category theory is dead simple if you are allowed to visualise it in 3d tear down the category cabal now!!!

We will be teaching Agentic GPU Programming for MLSys as part of the CMU ML Systems course this upcoming spring at @SCSatCMU, touching on knowledge curation, compiler analysis, and feedback loops. We also curated an online book on the topic, check it out mlc.ai/agentic-gpu-programmi…

I've always wanted my own WYSIWYG editor for my website, and now I have one! Works locally, saves changes to MDX. But the better part is building semantic writing tools on top. Colour-coded sentence classification, flagging cliches, repetition, and claims that need citations

We have MLPerf qualifying gpt-oss-20b training in 119 minutes on MI350X. tinygrad is likely now the fastest LLM training framework in the world. @nvidia want to give us a contract to beat your published MLPerf times? I'm confident we can do it.

In 1956, Cybernetics was renamed "AI" by logic programming experts. Now Trump wants to rename AI again. Let's revive the old name! Modern AI is about neural nets & deep learning, closer to Cybernetics than to 1956 AI. Plus, Cybernetics sounds better than Artificial Intelligence.

remember this old post of mine? Tried it with Jev---it seems to have a grasp of the globe on par with some of the best models a year ago due to the architecture & low cost, it was also feasible to extract a labeled map of continents and countries. lots of interesting details
new post. there's a lot in it. i suggest you check it out

"cybernetic control system" has the great advantage of being descriptive and avoids the dangerous kind of semantic drift and hype-proneness that you get from the term "artificial intelligence"
can we just go back to calling it cybernetics please

I've resurrected the comonad.com/reader, interleaved a ton of contemporaneous content I had stored elsewhere, and made a couple of the articles interactive by moving their demo code into web assembly using modern GHC. Please let me know if you run into any issues. #Haskell
