Personal Kanban Tips for Local Government & GIS Professionals
In our recent "Guided Personal Kanban" course, instructors @plotboy and Thushyanthan provided excellent insights on how this workflow methodology can benefit those in local government, GIS, and public sector roles.

Personal Kanban - A Simple Yet Powerful Way to Gain Control Over Your Work
Are you feeling overwhelmed by competing priorities and an endless to-do list? Personal #Kanban could be the #productivity game-changer you need.
Tim Nolan retweeted
"The great thing about any Kanban system is it's designed to start where you're at, so you don't have to go six months ago, what we did, it's like whatever the work is now is what we start. We want to begin to visualize it." - @plotboy

Hey folks! Hope your July is off to a good start. If you're into #ProductivityTips , then you'll appreciate that @plotboy and I are teaming up to offer a live, instructor-led Guided Personal #Kanban course this August 2024.
This 4-session intensive will take place on Thursdays (8/8, 8/15, 8/22, 8/29) from 5-6:30pm Pacific Time.
The course combines live virtual workshops with self-paced modules on the fundamentals of Personal Kanban by @ourfounder and @Sprezzatura.
You'll learn to visualize your work and #LimitWIP, and develop a system to stay on top of your ever-growing to-do list.
A private Discord server will keep you connected with your cohort and instructors throughout. Bring your webcam, mic and willingness to participate - this isn't just lecturing, it's an immersive experience in mastering personal flow!
Whether you're new to Kanban or a seasoned practitioner, this course will level-up your skills in prioritizing, focusing, and achieving your goals.
Your #Flow state awaits!

Morning 👋 #PersonalKanban for me was about personal #productivity. But that was a selfish approach. When I applied that #kanban approach to my team activities, you know...
1. Visualize our work
2. Limit our work-in-progress
That created plenty of "aha"s!
This Guided Personal Kanban course that I am co-teaching with Tim (@plotboy) is designed for us to apply Personal Kanban to our daily experience. It's designed for us to learn from each other.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Morning! Here is a small snippet of what Tim (@plotboy) and I will be covering in our Guided #personal #kanban Workshop in May. In this workshop, we will cover the 2 rules of #PersonalKanban -
1) Visualize your work and
2) Limit your work in progress.
We'd love to have you join us: modusinstitute.com/may-guide…

Tim (@plotboy) talks about visualizing your work and how it helps offload the #cognitive demand placed on our brains and short-term #memory. Once visualized, the task/activity is no longer occupying precious blocks of #cognition and allows us to #focus on other things like, say, seeing patterns in our work.
Tim and I will talk about this and more in the Guided #PersonalKanban class coming up in May.
- How do you _do_ your work?
- How do you #prioritize your work?
- How do you organize your work?
- How do you complete your work?
If you or your team would like to know more, we'd love to have you join in and talk about your context.
