Buildings designed after living organisms. Fascinating & imaginative concept...In the age of AI, it could be the basis for a sci-fi thriller.
The Cornell Chronicle wrote this great article about our 3 million dollar NSF grant. We bring are looking for the rules of life in flowers, somatic embryos, mouse brain cancer, developing chick hearts and architecture.

Pectins are not considered a component of plant secondary cell walls, but this report reveals an indirect connection via a wall associated kinase
Very interesting paper - Ectodomain variants of WAK receptor kinase w/ different affinity to ligands (pectins) confer different rice plant heights🌾. A haplotype w/ low affinity (short plants) selected for rice domestication?!

yes, a great book, even for biologists!
Thank you @philipcball for the reminder of this beautiful and enormously influential book.
My copy is a 1988 print. I had the great fortune to be introduced to it at the beginning of my career.
May this book find young friends.
