A Class 10 Hindu student wore a sacred Dasara mala after taking part in the Kulasekarapattinam Mutharamman temple festival. The Amala Convent school principal, a nun- allegedly ordered her to hide or remove the mala and assaulted her in Kanyakumari. The same principal wears a cross locket every day… yet lectures students on what they can or cannot wear. How is this equality? How is this secularism? Relatives and Hindu organisations have protested and confronted the management. This cannot be brushed aside. Religious freedom is for everyone, or it is for no one. What are your thoughts? I strongly condemn the actions of HR&CE Minister Ramesh @RameshOffcl and Minister Aadhav Arjuna @AadhavArjuna in facilitating the entry of a non-Hindu aide wearing a skull cap into the Arunachaleswarar Temple premises in Tiruvannamalai on 17 October 2026. This is a clear violation of the Madras High Court’s January 2024 order, which prohibits non-Hindus from proceeding beyond the Kodimaram without a recorded undertaking of faith in the deity and adherence to Hindu customs. It also disregarded the temple’s established dress code and sanctity. Temples under the HR&CE department are places of Hindu worship, not venues for political or official disregard of agama, court directions, and devotee sentiments. The intervention by the HR&CE Minister to suppress objections from devotees further shows an unwillingness to uphold the very rules the department is meant to enforce. Such conduct undermines the legal and traditional framework protecting Hindu temples and sets a dangerous precedent. I demand that both ministers issue an immediate public apology, ensure strict compliance with the High Court order at all HR&CE temples, and take steps so that similar violations do not recur. Shift the demographic composition by 50%, and secularism will vanish. These Bangladeshi People whose DNA is rooted in Sanatan traditions—whose fathers and grandfathers four generations ago may have borne surnames like Ghosh, Bose, Mondal or Pal—now claim kinship with uncles in Yemen and Syria. Born in the soil of undivided Bengal, his kingdom lay on land that constitutes Bangladesh today. Shah Jalal came from Yemen. Archaeological evidence above and beneath present-day Bangladesh’s soil shows this region was a major centre of Buddhist and Vaishnava traditions for centuries. Under the Pala dynasty (approx. 8th–12th centuries), Bengal was a world-class centre of Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. The scholar Atisha Dipankara Shrijnana spent considerable time here. Atisha, a son of Bengal, was born around 982 CE in Vajrayogini, Bikrampur (present-day Munshiganj). Bhagavata traditions and Vishnu devotion existed in the region from the Gupta period. The Kantanagar Temple (Kantaji Temple) in Dinajpur exemplifies 18th-century terracotta architecture dedicated to Krishna. The Puthia Temple Complex in Rajshahi houses the Govinda Temple. The Jagannath Temple in Cumilla and Dhamrai’s centuries-old Rath Yatra form part of the region’s Sanatan heritage. Gour Govinda belonged to this land. Atisha was a son of this soil. The monasteries of Somapura and Mainamati are proud legacies. Shah Jalal, from Yemen, was an outsider. Full stop.
