News from the Book'em Danno camp, posted on FB today by Jay Briscione: For immediate release Contact: Jay Briscione [email protected] - 732-245-0568 Injury sidelines champion Book ’em Danno for rest of 2026; eyes 2027 return OCEANPORT, N.J. — Book’em Danno, the 2025 Eclipse Award-winning sprinter and the highest-earning New Jersey-bred in history, will take the remainder of 2026 off under veterinary guidance, with full expectation of returning to competition in 2027. “Book’em Danno sustained a hyper-extended left leg injury in a stall mishap resulting in a scratch the morning of the Forego Stakes at Saratoga, where he was the even-money favorite,” said Jay Briscione, managing partner of Atlantic Six Racing, LLC. “Diagnostic tests confirmed the injury to his left foreleg that will require about four months rest. ‘Danno’ has provided us with incredible excitement, and his efforts were rewarded with the Eclipse Award last year. Our priority is his long-term health, and we look forward to seeing him back on the track in 2027.” The 5-year-old gelding, owned by Atlantic Six Racing and trained by Derek Ryan, began his 2026 campaign with a second in the Grade 2 Carter Stakes, then won the Grade 3 True North Stakes at Saratoga for the second straight year, defeating 2025 Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Bentornato and runner-up Imagination. He won the listed Mr. Prospector Stakes on Book’em Danno Day at Monmouth Park. In 19 career starts, he has 12 wins and $2.27 million in earnings. Bred in New Jersey by Gregory Kilka and Bright View Farm, Book ’em Danno has become a source of pride for his home state, capturing multiple awards, including New Jersey’s three-time Champion Sprinter and Horse of the Year. His victories have not only showcased his talent but also highlighted the New Jersey breeding program. Book ’em Danno will return to training following the rest period this fall and connections are optimistic about a strong 2027 campaign. Atlantic Six Racing, LLC is a partnership of seven individuals raised in New Jersey who race Thoroughbreds under that banner

I’m not sure I’ve ever used this company. I am sure @Tripadvisor is apparently run by uninformed idiots and that I would never consider using them, even if I were stranded in Egypt under a camel with the runs and they were the only way out.
Tripadvisor is now no longer making its website available to anyone attempting to purchase tickets to horse racing events, a policy that apparently went into place earlier this month. @BillFinley3 reports. thoroughbreddailynews.com/tr…

itemlive.com/2026/09/10/a-sw… Honored to share the story of how Mike Jalbert and his family have navigated the last 25 years since the loss of their dad on 9/11. As his sister Julie said, “For everyone else it was a national tragedy. For us it was a family tragedy and a national tragedy.”

It's unlikely that anything will change but this is a compelling argument. When established policies are not followed, exposure results.

How can Del Mar and Kentucky Downs run on top of each other two races in a row? Incredible

After being scratched from the Forego, Book'em Danno has now been ruled out of the Breeders' Cup by trainer Derek Ryan, who said today that Danno has been walking the shedrow but not yet returned to training. Ryan doesn't think he can make the Vosburgh on 9/26 or Phoenix on 10/2 and doesn't want to run in BC off what would be 106-day layoff. Running in the sprint on the Saudi Cup card 2/6/27 remains a target, with a possible prep in the Elite Power at Belmont on the Cigar Mile card 12/5.

Happy Birthday to you and thank you!
My birthday is fast approaching. My wife asked me if there was anything in particular I wanted. I told her I wanted the book by @pkhcomm. EVERY time Cody’s Wish raced, I unapologetically shed tears when the story of Cody Dorman and the horse named in his honor was mentioned.

Perfectly stated. We all love to complain about track operators, often with cause, but you have to give @TheNYRA huge props for taking this stand on behalf of horseplayers and it is gratifying to see them rewarded for it.
Horseplayers are voting with their bankrolls because NYRA provides a fighting chance by throttling the CAW teams in all pools. Unlike the other tracks that invite the CAW teams in and let them run wild in all their pools. Hopefully, those other tracks will finally take notice. There is no excuse left now. It’s time to give players a more level playing field. If tracks don’t, players should play elsewhere. Doing so will improve player results and continue to send an important message to the industry.

Always great to catch up with @MikeMutnansky at Saratoga -- and land on the same 10-1 winner! -- and looking forward to working with him again at @parxracing for the Pennsylvania Derby.

Good news on Book'em Danno front. Horse shipped back to Monmouth Sunday and was examined by vet today, including ultrasound. All negative. Derek Ryan said horse will walk shed row Tuesday and go to track to jog Wednesday. Possible next start: Vosburgh at Belmont 9/26 or Phoenix at KEE 10/2.

Book’em Danno will scratch from the Forego, per Jay Briscione. Vets didn’t like the way he moved this morning. “That’s how hard this game is,” Briscione said. @SaratogaTL @Steve_Byk
