Teamwork makes the dream work💪🏼. One year post-Caldor fire we’ve collected 200+ stream chemistry samples over 15-20 sites (plus lots of soil+ash data) with a team of amazing students and citizen scientist volunteers via @ARConservancy!

Nice writeup @Weather_West !!
“Fire finds a way.” I talked with ⁦@Weather_West⁩ about the “urban firestorm” that tore through suburban Denver Thursday, jumping house to house and spreading by football fields in seconds, powered by eight straight hours of hurricane-force winds. nymag.com/intelligencer/2022…

How will a low-to-no snow future affect essential water resources? To answer that question we need to understand how snow and rain behave differently. See our work with dynamic-flux particle tracking models and stable isotope measurements! H11A-07 12/13 8:36am CST #AGU21

I have not laughed this hard in a long time. Amazing.
Here’s a thread of pelicans trying to eat animals other than fish. Hope this helps.
Awesome thread by @emilygrubert about US electricity transition. In 140 characters: closing fossil plants by 2035 won’t strand too much, needs to be planned to be just and protect workers. Otherwise it won’t get uptake. But read the whole thing—so much good work.
🏭🧑‍🏭Out in Science today: decarbonizing US electricity by 2035 only strands about 15% of capacity-years, based on typical lifespans. Setting explicit deadlines can help with the #JustTransition. 🧑‍🏭🏭 Paper: science.sciencemag.org/conte… Interactive map: emilygrubert.org/energy-tran…

My PI sent me this after he finished going over my latest paper draft. I gotta say, this did more to silence the little mean voice in my head than any of my own self-care, self-affirmations, or "I'm good enough, smart enough, and gosh-darn-it people like me"s in the mirror.

Great thread by @emilygrubert about possible coal mine retirements and the complex issues they raise for how to transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Thanks, Emily—super interesting!!
For you lovely energy and climate folks who don't think about coal all the time: what's going on in the Powder River Basin (the coal region mined in Wyoming that produces ~40% of US coal from ~10-15 enormous mines) is a *REMARKABLY* big deal.
