#OnThisDay 1957: Wakes Week - the annual holiday in Lancashire cotton towns - in Blackburn. A film by future oscar-winning director, John Schlesinger. Stunning.

.@BorisJohnson the deliberate devastation of whole communities isn’t a joke - when a PM & old Etonian lies about working class history to cover up his inaction as host of world climate conference, it’s not funny, it’s disrespectful & devious #apologise bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-5…

Boris Johnson’s shameful praising of Margaret Thatcher’s closure of the coal mines, brushing off the devastating impact on those communities with a laugh, shows just how out of touch he is with working people. dailyrecord.co.uk/news/polit…

Today we celebrate #BurnsNight - the anniversary of the birth of #Scotlands national bard! Below is a video of the exceptionally talented Alex Shrinivas performing "My Collier Laddie" by #RobertBurns! We hope you enjoy it as much as we do 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
It's the end of #MuseumWeek & we collaborated with the incredibly talented Alexandra Shrinivas Soprano who performed R. Burns' "My Collier Laddie"! Today's theme is #DreamsMW and, like most of us, we are dreaming of a better future. Dedicated to Scotland's mining communities.

Hadn’t noticed the mining theme before on the bird hide at Bo’ness foreshore, spotted it a couple of weeks back when out doing socially distanced field work with Shannon working on mapping the route for her new walk on the coal app. #miningheritage

Last pics from the Wemyss wanders, the planned industrial village of Coaltown serving the local pits, a conservation area since 1980 and wonderful example of the Fife vernacular style. #miningheritage #industrialhousing #Fife

The only surviving headgear on the Lancashire coalfield. Local to me, it always makes me stop and stare when I look at the skyline on my local walks. Amazing photo by Gary Clee 📸 #astleygreencolliery @AstleyColliery @mining_museum

Almost forgot to post the last pics from Bo’ness, finished the walk at the miners’ memorial. The wheel actually comes from the Prince of Wales pit, Shireoaks Colliery, Notts but was restored at the Ballantine Bo’ness Iron Works. (Back to Fife now). #coal #miningheritage
