It might take students a quiz or 2 to realize that they still have to study and that answers aren't just waiting for them in the book or their notes! I had the same experience when switching to online open book exams!

Interesting observation in my Freshman Bio class. Last year I tried to put strict restrictions on taking online quizzes. This year I made them open book/open note/open internet. Average is lower this year. Questions are essentially unchanged.
